Sabres win second game against Silesia and take over the league lead

The Sabres St. Pölten also came out on top in the second game of the doubleheader against Tauron Metropolia Silesia. After a 3:0 victory on Saturday, the team from Lower Austria edged out a narrow 2:1 win on Sunday. As a result, last season’s finalist in the European Women’s Hockey League moved to the top of the standings, holding a one-point lead over defending champions Aisulu Almaty.

In the second game of the doubleheader in Katowice, the Sabres took the lead in the third minute through Jaime Magoffin. In the 21st minute, the team from Lower Austria made it 2–0. However, the Polish side, currently sitting 11th in the standings, showed plenty of grit and pulled one back in the 23rd minute. The score remained 2–1 until the final buzzer.
