EC Red Bull Salzburg celebrated a 4–1 home victory over Eisbären Berlin in the Champions Hockey League on Wednesday. With three goals in the middle frame, the defending win2day ICE Hockey League champion laid the foundation for success and secured a spot in the CHL Round of 16, where they will face German side Ingolstadt from the DEL.

EC-KAC, on the other hand, missed out on advancing to the next round after a 1–3 defeat on the road against Finnish champions KalPa Kuopio.

Salzburg had a perfect start in their home game against Berlin: Connor Corcoran gave the hosts the lead on the power play just four minutes in. The Red Bulls kept up the pressure but couldn’t extend their advantage before the first intermission, taking a 1–0 lead into the break. Only 82 seconds after play resumed, they struck again — Nash Nienhuis finished off a setup from Coe to make it 2–0. Berlin quickly cut the deficit, but in the 31st minute Mario Huber restored the two-goal cushion after a perfect feed from Baltram. Peter Schneider later added Salzburg’s fourth. The win2day ICE Hockey League champions then defended solidly and could rely on goaltender Atte Tolvanen in key moments. With this win, head coach Manny Viveiros’s team finished the CHL regular season in 11th place and will now meet Ingolstadt in the knockout stage.

KalPa got off to a strong start against a still injury-depleted EC-KAC, jumping to a 2–0 lead early through goals by Joona Saarelainen (6’) and Juuso Könönen (9’). The visitors grew into the game and created good scoring chances through Clemens Unterweger and David Waschnig but were denied by KalPa goalie Patrik Kerkola. The second period was more balanced, with Klagenfurt generating opportunities but unable to capitalize — even their first power play brought no results. In the final frame, Lukáš Kaňák made it 3–0 for the Finnish side in the 48th minute. Thomas Hundertpfund bagged a late consolation goal (57’), but it wasn’t enough for KAC, who fell short of the CHL Round of 16.
