Salzburg celebrates 17th playoff win in a row

The playoff run of EC Red Bull is unstoppable. The Salzburg team has already won its 17th playoff game ensuite. At the start of the "best-of-seven" 2023 semifinals, EC Red Bull celebrated a 5:1 victory over EC-KAC. For the first time in the last seven playoff series, the KAC started the series with a defeat. The hosts from Salzburg set the tone in the first semifinal game from the start. Peter Schneider finally opened the scoring in the 16th minute. For him it was already the sixth goal in the 2023 playoffs of the win2day ICE Hockey League. Salzburg remained in control of the game and was especially efficient in their power plays. The reigning champions scored on three out of five power plays - most of them after only a few seconds. In addition, Troy Bourke scored his first goal in the win2day ICE Hockey League. The Red Bulls finally prevailed 5:1 without any problems and put the score at 1:0 in the "best-of-seven" semifinal series. Already on Sunday, game two will follow in Klagenfurt, again live on PULS 24.

Gazley strikes again in overtime

Dustin Gazley and HCB Südtirol Alperia have done it again. Only on Tuesday, the US-American shot the Foxes in the overtime of Game 7 into the semifinals. Three days later, history repeats itself at the start of the semifinal series against the spusu Vienna Capitals. After a scoreless opening period, Nikolaus Hartl first opened the scoring for the Viennese. Brad McClure had the quick answer ready and equalized through a spectacular interplay with Mike Halmo. In the third period, the Caps already cheered about a supposed goal by Jeremy Gregoire, which, was not awarded after video review, because the puck was already saved by HCB goalie Sam Harvey before it was pushed over the line. Thus, the decision had to be found in overtime - and there it was once again Dustin Gazley who brought the Palaonda to a boil. With playoff goal number five and OT game-winner number two, the 34-year-old experienced player put the score at 1-0 in the best-of-seven semifinal series. Semifinal number two follows on Sunday in Vienna.
