Tue, 15.03.2022, 7.15 pm: EC-KAC – spusu Vienna Capitals
Referees: STERNAT, ZRNIC, Pardatscher, Seewald. | >> PPV-Livestream <<
“best-of-seven” series: 1:2
The spusu Vienna Capitals are 2-1 ahead in the best-of-seven quarterfinal series against EC-KAC as of Sunday night. In the 2019 final - the last playoff confrontation between the two teams - Vienna also traveled to Klagenfurt with a 2-1 advantage for game four, but then lost and also the series. The "Rotjacken" have trailed 1:2 in "best-of-seven" series twelve times, winning game four nine times. The final series of 2019 was the lone playoff series that Vienna still gave away after a 2:1 lead, five times there was an advancement before. For the two-time champions from the Austrian capital, Nikolaus Hartl, who has scored in each of the three quarterfinal games so far, is close to reach Riley Holzapfel, who scored in each of the first four games against Innsbruck in 2017. Same year, Stefan Geier set a seven-game playoff scoring streak, the best in the last five seasons. Klagenfurt will be without Jakob Holzer, Niklas Würschl, Rok Tičar and Johannes Bischofberger for game four, while Clemens Unterweger is questionable.

“best-of-seven” series: 0:3
HC TESLA Orli Znojmo is fighting against the end of the season. The Czechs are down 0-3 in their best-of-seven quarterfinal series against EC Red Bull Salzburg, needing a win for a game five. Znojmo faced a 0:3 series deficit twice in its postseason past, in both cases the "Adler" also lost the fourth game (2012 vs. MZA and 2017 vs. KAC). In order to be dangerous for the regular season champion, the team around league top scorer Radek Prokes (28G|30A) has to stop Salzburg's offensive efforts: In the first three games, the "Red Bulls" shot almost twice as often on goal (111:68). Salzburg, on the other hand, had a great penalty killing available, did not concede a goal when shorthanded (8). McIlvane's squad has celebrated a sweep five times since joining the league. Three times they failed to close the bag in a fourth game after taking a 3-0 series lead (all quarterfinals).

Tue, 15.03.2022, 7.45 pm: HC Pustertal Wölfe – Hydro Fehérvár AV19

Hydro Fehérvár AV19 can qualify for the semifinals of the win2day ICE Hockey League for the first time on Tuesday. Six times in the past, the Hungarians have been eliminated in the quarterfinals, never holding a 3-0 series lead. HC Pustertal Wölfe, on the other hand, wants to avert the sweep and land its first playoff win and should once again be able to compete in a sold-out Intercable Arena. In the three quarterfinal games so far, the Hungarians impressed especially offensively, scoring an average of 4.75 goals. Eleven players were responsible for 19 goals, the offensive power of the third-placed team from the regular season is versatile.

Eight different players scored for Villach, and in total, already twelve Villach players have scored a goal in the current playoffs. Ljubljana is doing well on powerplay despite the last two defeats, scoring six of its 14 goals in numerical superiority. Before the fourth duel, Villach was given a day off by head coach Rob Daum. On Tuesday it will be decided whether Tomi Karhunen, who has been ill lately, will be back in the line-up. Missing will be convalescents Chris Collins and Yannick Pilloni. "Dragon" Guillaume Leclerc is, along with Nikolaus Hartl, the only player with a current goal-scoring streak in the 2022 playoffs. In total, the Frenchman has four goals and four assists recorded.
