EC Red Bull Salzburg won 1:0 against HC Tesla Orli Znojmo in the quarterfinals of the win2day ICE Hockey League on Tuesday and are through to the semifinals after their fourth win in their fourth game. The narrow victory in Znojmo, however, had to be hard-earned once again and. After the goal of Jan-Mikael Järvinen, who deflected a Brennan shot unstoppable, in the 2nd minute, the hosts got better and better as the game went on. Thanks to JP Lamoureux (36 saves), the Red Bulls managed to keep the shutout. The Salzburgers thus also prevailed in their second playoff series against Znojmo.

Fehervar also with sweep into the semifinals
Fehervar experienced a rollercoaster ride of emotions with a happy ending in the fourth quarterfinal duel at HC Pustertal. The hosts had their backs to the wall and had the supposedly perfect answer with a 3:0 lead after the first period. But the Hungarians struck back in the middle period with four goals within eleven minutes and from then on were on the way up. Istvan Bartalis scored into the empty net in the 59th minute to make it 3:5, but the Wolves still did not give in. Johan Harju's goal eight seconds before the end was too late. Thus Fehervar entered the semifinals for the first time in their league history.

Capitals win again in Klagenfurt
The spusu Vienna Capitals took a couple of penalties in the first period at KAC. In the eighth minute, the hosts took advantage of a double powerplay when Paul Postma scored to take the lead. But the guests had an answer ready - even in the form of a brace. First Charles Dodero equalised after a nice move, only 110 seconds later Brody Sutter put the Viennese in the lead in only his second game after a three-month injury lay-off. When Dodero was sent to the showers after a check on Steven Strong, Lukas Haudum scored again on power play to make it 2:2. The score remained at that level until well into the third period, as both goalies put in strong performances. In the 51st minute the decision was made, Matt Bradley netted on a rebound for the away victory. This gave head coach Dave Barr's team a 3:1 series lead.

Villach scores and wins
EC GRAND Immo VSV also secured match pucks. The Villach side took the lead on the first power play at HK SZ Olimpija through a well-placed shot by Scott Kosmachuk. Renars Krastenbergs even increased the lead to 2:0 before the first period break. Although the guests scored shortly after the restart through Felix Maxa, Ljubljana did not give up and came within one goal in the middle period. Although the Slovenians had more of the game at times, they finally had to admit defeat. Krastenbergs and Schofield scored again for the more efficient Villach team. The quarterfinal duel between VSV and the Slovenians is still the third highest scoring playoff series (current average 9.25 goals per game) since the league was newly founded.
