Villach prevailed against Fehérvár with 3:2-OT in the end despite a weak start. Already after 141 seconds the guests from Hungary led with 2:0. VSV-Head Coach Rob Daum promptly took a timeout. As it turned out, this was the right decision, because the home side was able to even out the game and even clearly dominate the second period.

Until the 27th minute the guests led with 2:0, before Anton Karlsson scored the first goal for Villach. Again not even five minutes later the "Eagles" could equalize the play deservedly by Philipp Lindner. After that, it was an equal game but further goals were not scored in regular playing time. In the overtime it took only 85 seconds before Marco Richter made the decision. Before that, VSV goalkeeper Tomi Karhunen was able to save a great chance by Fehérvár. The series continues on Saturday in Székesfehérvár. PULS 24 will broadcast live from 17:10.

Salzburg without problems

Regular Season winner EC Red Bull Salzburg started into the semifinals with a commanding 4:1 home win against the spusu Vienna Capitals. The guests from Vienna, who had to play without their two regular goalkeepers Bernhard Starkbaum and David Kickert as well as numerous other players due to Covid-19, put up a good fight. As expected, the Red Bulls took a 1:0 lead in the fourth minute of the game. But only 25 seconds later the Capitals struck back and equalized through Nikolaus Hartl. The team from Salzburg was the better team and pulled away to 3:1 in the first period. Among others, ex-Caps forward Ali Wukovits scored to make it 2:1 in the meantime.

In the second period and also until shortly before the end of the game no further goals were scored. It was then Benjamin Nissner who scored the final goal two minutes before the end of the game per empty-net. Neo-Caps goalkeeper Lorenz Widhalm showed a strong performance and was able to save 27 of the 30 shots on his goal.
