The EC-KAC and HC Pustertal took revenge on Friday: While Klagenfurt won the shootout at Linz, the Wolves from South Tyrol celebrated a clear derby victory over Bolzano.
EC Red Bull Salzburg inflicted the clearest defeat so far this season on league leader HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana. The Red Bulls celebrated a 7:2 victory - their highest win of the season. While Salzburg won five of their last six games to climb to fourth place in the table, the leader's lead is shrinking after their third defeat in the last four games. KAC takes revenge on Linz
After the Steinbach Black Wings Linz won 6:5 after overtime in October, the Klagenfurters managed an equally exciting revenge 1.5 months later. The KAC celebrated a 3:2 shootout victory after leading 2:0. For a long time it looked like the EC-KAC would win the game, before Emilio Roming (in powerplay) and the ex-Klagenfurter Blaz Gregorc brought the Linzers into the overtime. After a goalless overtime, the goalies of both teams were convincing at first, not allowing any goals for a long time. However, veteran Koch then provided the extra point for the Red Jackets.
Bulldogs' losing streak continues
In the duel of the table neighbors, Tesla Orli Znojmo prevailed against the Dornbirn Bulldogs with 2-1 after overtime and thus increased its lead in the table. The Vorarlberg side, which suffered its eighth loss in a row, has thus lost its place in the top-10 for the time being and finds itself without a pre-playoff or playoff spot for the first time this season. After Kevin Hancok put the Bulldogs into overtime, Ryan Culkin provided the decision for the Czechs after only 31 seconds.
Pustertal wins second South Tyrol derby
For the second time this season it came to the South Tyrol derby between HC Pustertal and HCB Südtirol. While in the first season duel the runner-up of the previous season won by a narrow margin, the Wolves managed a clear revenge in the second encounter. Pustertal was much more dangerous after an early deficit and turned the match around in the first period. The Foxes were able to equalize for a short time in the middle period, but could not take the lead again. Max Gerlach, in only his second game for Pustertal, ensured the decision with a brace in the third period. With this success, the Wolves passed the red lantern back to the Black Wings.
