Salzburg celebrates second CHL win in a row | Successful preseason day for ICE teams

EC Red Bull Salzburg celebrated a 3:2 win after overtime at Polish champion Unia Oświęcim in the Champions Hockey League. New signing Niki Kraus scored the decisive goal on Friday and Salzburg now have two wins after three CHL games.

Olimpija Ljubljana won the league duel against Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 5:2 on Friday. EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV continued its preseason winning run against Augsburg, the Carinthians are still unbeaten. The Steinbach Black Wings Linz, the spusu Vienna Capitals and the Pioneers Vorarlberg also celebrated victories.

EC Red Bull Salzburg won their Champions Hockey League away game against Unia Oświęcim 3:2 in overtime to add two more points to their tally in the European top flight. After two equal periods, the Polish champions made life difficult for the Red Bulls in the final phase and forced overtime, which Nikolaus Kraus decided with his first goal for the Red Bulls. Dennis Robertson and Philipp Krening had already scored for the reigning champions of the win2day ICE Hockey League. After three CHL games, Salzburg are on a two-game winning streak.

Olimpija wins against Asiago
After three recent preseason defeats, Ljubljana returned to winning ways in their league clash against Asiago. Moncada put the Italians ahead in the ninth minute and Mahkovec equalised just 18 seconds later. It remained 1:1 until the 46th minute - then a goal on both sides followed within a minute. In the final phase, the Slovenians finally pulled away to 5:2.

VSV continues its winning run
EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV remained victorious in their sixth preparation game, the Carinthians prevailed in a shootout in a high-scoring game in Augsburg. The blue-and-whites were already leading 6:3 at the start of the final period, with Scherbak scoring a brace. However, the Germans made up the three-goal deficit and the game went to a penalty shoot-out. A number of goals were scored there, but Villach eventually prevailed 3:2.

Linz, Pioneers and Vienna end preseason with victories
The Steinbach Black Wings put down another marker at the end of their preparation and deservedly won in Slovakia. Graham Knott scored a hat-trick to lead the Linz team to an away win against the previously unbeaten champions from Nitra.

The Pioneers Vorarlberg won their final preseason game against Memmingen 4:2. Josh Passolt scored a brace, Brady Gilmour and David Keefer also found the back of the net for the Vorarlberg side.

The spusu Vienna Capitals won 3:1 against HK Dukla Trencin. Niki Hartl put the Viennese team ahead in the first period. Against the run of play, the visitors equalised in the middle period on power play. Brett Kemp scored his first two preseason goals in the final period to give the home side the win (44./PP1, 59./PP1).
