Salzburg confirms top position | KAC celebrates last second win

The EC Red Bull Salzburg confirmed the leading position of the league after winning in the top game against the Moser Medical Graz99ers who had to take the first defeat in this season. The new chasing pack of Salzburg consists of the EC Panaceo VSV, HC Orli Znojmo and the spusu Vienna Capitals who celebrated wins. The most exciting game was the Sky TV-game between HC TWK Innsbruck and the EC-KAC. When nearly everybody was expecting an goalless regular time, Lukas Haudum scored the game winner only four seconds before the buzzer.

Villach still undefeated in home games
The EC Panaceo VSV is still undefeated in home games. In the anniversary game against Hydro Fehervar AV19 (on this 12 years ago theses two teams met for the first time) the VSV celebrated a 3:1 win. After a goalless opening period Martin Ulmer scored twice in the second. It was the 199ths and 200ths goal of the VSV in a Duel against Feherva. Mika Lahti increased the lead to 3:0 still in the same period. Andrew Yogan gave rise to some hope with his fifths goal of the season. But Villach did a good job in defending the lead and climbed the standings to the second place.



Salzburg confirms top position

The EC Red Bull Salzburg confirmed the top position of the league after a win in the top duel. The Moser Medical Graz99ers had to take their first defeat in this season. Salzburg confirmed their home dominance against the 99ers, as it was the 35th win in the 44th home game against Graz. Salzburg started the game efficiently. Afer only 61 seconds Raphael Herburger created the lead. Both teams focused on defense in the following, allowing less chances. The home team also had a good start into the second scoring the 2:0 by Chad Kolarik. In the same period Davis Aslin managed to narrow the gap in powerplay. In the final period Raphael Herburger brought the decision with his second goal of the night. 

Strong start brought success for Znojmo
The HC Orli Znojmo celebrated a 3:1 win over the Dornbirn Bulldogs and are still in the chasing pack of leader Salzburg. The Czechs started like a pistol shot. In the fourth minute Tomas Svoboda opened the sccoring. The guests controlled the game in the first 20 minute and achieved two more goals by Ales Sova and Aaron Berisha. The Bulldogs found their rhythm in the second and Philipp Pöschmann scored the first home goal for the Bulldogs this season. The Bulldogs had a bit more of the game, but didn’t manage to comeback. It was the third defeat in a row for Dornbirn, on the other side Znojmo celebrated the third continuous win. 



Haudum redeems KAC in last second
The EC-KAC ended its three games losing streak. Only four seconds before the buzzer Lukas Haudum scored the first and only goal of the night. For Innsbruck it was the fourth defeat with only one goal difference and is still the only team without a win. David Madlener who started in the goal of the KAC for the first time this season celebrated his 13ths shutout in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. In the beginning of the game the reigning champ had a plus in chances. But later Innsbruck found its rhythm and created the even better chances, hitting five times the post. When everybody was already expecting an overtime Lukas Haudum scored the game winner four seconds before the end. With that win the KAC closed the gap to the chasing group of Salzburg. 

Caps celebrates 500ths regular season win
The vice champ of the past season wins the start of a roadtrip with 4:1. It was the first road win of the caps in the fourth try this season. In history of Erste Bank Eishockey Liga the Caps celebrated now 500 wins in regular season. Three of the four goals of the Caps happened in powerplay. With that win Vienna climbed the standings to the third place. The HCB Südtirol Alperia had to take the fourth defeat in the fifths game this season. After an goalless opening period Brenden Kichton captured the lead for the guests. Sebastien Sylvestre was able to equalize, but after that the Caps took control and Alex Wall, Ty Lony and Riley Holzapfel brought the 4:1 win.
