EC Red Bull Salzburg won their Champions Hockey League away game against the ZSC Lions 4:2 and thus secured their third win in the fourth game of the regular season. After a strong and focussed start, the Red Bulls led 3:0 after just under 14 minutes thanks to goals from Peter Hochkofler, Peter Schneider and Ryan Murphy, with Lucas Thaler adding the fourth goal in the 26th minute. After that, ZSC also showed its offensive qualities and the Swiss team closed the gap to two goals. The Red Bulls defended this lead - also thanks to strong saves by David Kickert - with a lot of effort until the end and ultimately celebrated a hard-earned but deserved away win. It was the Lions' first defeat in their fourth CHL game.

The EC-KAC suffered a major collapse in their home game against Unia Oświęcim on Sunday afternoon after a solid 45 minutes of play and a 4:1 lead at one point, losing 5:4 to the Polish champions. The playoff ticket in the Champions Hockey League is now a long way off for the Red Jackets.
