After a 5:4 shootout road win at reigning champion EC-KAC the EC Red Bull Salzburg remains leader in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, despite the Moser Medical Graz99ers got their third straight win, as they beat HCB Südtirol Alperia 6:2. With one game less, the Styrian trail one point in standings and grabbed second place. Further, the spusu Vienna Capitals cheered its 20th victory against the Dornbirn Bulldogs, the HC Orli Znojmo defeated the EC Panaceo VSV for the first time this season and Andrew Yogan secured the extra point for Hydro Fehérvár AV19 in the overtime against his former team HC TWK Innsbruck “Die Haie”.
Salzburg remains unbeaten on the road
The EC Red Bull Salzburg won its third straight road game this Erste Bank Eishockey Liga season, as the Red Bulls grabbed a 5:4 victory after shootout at reigning champion EC-KAC. Klagenfurt got its first home defeat since March 10th – and twelve consecutive wins. After the „Rotjacken“ took the lead in the 26th minute, last year’s semifinalist turned the game around with four straight goals still in the middle frame. But the EC-KAC came back, with David Madlener replacing Lars Haugen after the 1:3, and three unanswered goals in the last. Despite good chances on both sided the extra session remained goalless and Thomas Raffl hit the decisive penalty.
Graz makes it three from three
The Moser Medical Graz99ers remain unbeaten in the current Erste Bank Eishockey Liga campaign, as they celebrated their third season win, taking second spot in standings, one point behind leader Salzburg. A strong opening frame with three goals in the first 6,5 minutes gave the Styrian a comfortable 6:2 win against HCB Südtirol Alperia in the end. Late new arrival Greg Squires scored in his second game for the 99ers too.
Znojmo caused VSV’s first season defeat
The EC Panaceo VSV had to take its first defeat this season, as the Carinthians lost to HC Orli Znojmo 1:3. The “eagles” got their ninth consecutive road defeat, while the Czech side cheered its second season win. Villach’s Jerry Pollastrone balanced the game in the 12th minute, after Tomas Svoboda got the home team on the scoreboard in the 9th minute. Less than one minute later Philip McRae went top shelf and retook the lead for Znojmo, which decided the game finally with an empty netter.
Vienna put down Bulldogs‘ comeback
The spusu Vienna Capitals celebrated their 20th win against the Dornbirn Bulldogs, as the Viennese took a 4:3 home win and the Vorarlberg side quit its first road trip with only one point, gained on Saturday in the overtime loss at Fehérvár. Vienna had a great start, led 3:0 after the first frame with Sondre Olden having a brace. But Dornbirn stroke back, Evan Trupp with a brace too and Kevin Macierzynski tied it for the road team. In the end Niki Hartl secured the win for the Caps.
Andrew Yogan gives Fehérvár second overtime win within 24 hours
Like on Saturday Andrew Yogan hits the game winner for Hydro Fehérvár AV19 in the extra session, cheering a 7:6 home win against his former team HC TWK Innsbruck “Die Haie”. Never thirteen goals were shot in a game between these two teams. At the beginning of the last it looked like the Hungarian side takes a comfortable win, leading 5:2, but Innsbruck scored four more and opened the game again, which Donat Szita sent to the extra session, where Andrew Yogan hit the game winner.
