Decision of the ICE Disciplinary Senate in Detail

Inappropriate Gesturing – Tyler Lewington, Game #249 | G99 vs RBS
A fine of EUR 2,400.00 is imposed on EC Red Bull Salzburg player Tyler Lewington (jersey number 2) for damaging sporting integrity in Game #249 of the win2day ICE Hockey League on January 23, 2026, as per the ICE Hockey League Game Book – Part I | Disciplinary Measures – Chapter IV Substantive Law – §2 Disciplinary Measures and Guidelines – (1) Damage to Sporting Integrity.

In addition, Lewington receives an unconditional suspension of five official games for insulting or threatening opposing players or spectators, in accordance with the win2day ICE Hockey League Disciplinary Catalogue, Ref. No. 33.

Justification
Video footage of the incident on January 23, 2026, leaves no doubt about the gesture made by Tyler Lewington. His behavior represents a clear violation of the win2day ICE Hockey League’s Code of Ethics and disciplinary provisions.

With this gesture, the player fulfilled the elements of both damage to sporting integrity and insult or threat toward opposing players or spectators as defined in Part I | Disciplinary Measures. The applicable penalty range for these offenses under the ICE Game Book includes fines from EUR 500.00 to EUR 25,000.00 and, alternatively or cumulatively, suspensions ranging from one game to a lifetime ban.

The integrity of a league organization — particularly that of the win2day ICE Hockey League — is considered the highest value in sports governance. Under the league’s Code of Ethics, all affiliated parties are obliged to uphold the principles of dignity, integrity, loyalty, and responsibility in all competitive, economic, social (including social media), and moral contexts.

The win2day ICE Hockey League explicitly reaffirms that disrespectful acts or inappropriate gestures will not be tolerated under any circumstances and will be consistently sanctioned to preserve the league’s high standards of professionalism, respect, and fair play.

Aggravating factor: The gesture was made on open ice immediately after a fight and while leaving the rink, visible to players, officials, spectators, and a large streaming audience, thereby amplifying its impact.

Mitigating factor: The incident occurred directly after a fight — an emotionally and physically charged situation — and can therefore be partly regarded as an impulsive reaction under exceptional circumstances.

Additional note: The imposed fine of EUR 2,400.00 must be paid in full.

Similar actions or statements within the next 24 months will be treated as repeat offenses under the “Repeat Offender Regulation” of the win2day ICE Hockey League, resulting in penalties increased by 50%.
