Salzburg derby in the Master Round | Top duel in Qualification Round B

Six games are scheduled in the Alps Hockey League on Thursday. In the Master Round the Salzburg derby between the Red Bull Hockey Juniors and the EK Die Zeller Eisbären takes place. In addition, leader Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan will face the EC Bregenzerwald. The top duel will take place in Qualification Round B. The EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel will face the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers. The Tyroleans currently have a one-point lead over the visitors from South Tyrol. S.G. Cortina Hafro and the Rittner Buam SkyAlps are not in action in the Alps Hockey League, but in the final of the IHL Serie A. Cortina won game one of the „best-of-3“ series with 4:0 away from home. The second final game will take place on Thursday at 20:30.

The Salzburg derby between the Red Bull Hockey Juniors and the EK Die Zeller Eisbären will take place for the third time this season. Both teams will also face each other in the final of the Austrian AHL Championship, which will take place on February 8 and February 10. All previous season duels have been decided in overtime. The home team prevailed both times. In fact, the past four head-to-head duels have gone into overtime. The current form speaks in favor of the Juniors, who have won three of the past four encounters. Zell am See has didn´t win a game in the Master Round so far and is only in fifth place in the table with three points. The Juniors have five points and are third.

The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan had a perfect start in the Master Round. With two wins against the Juniors and Zell am See, the South Tyroleans even climbed to the top of the table. Ritten follows in second place with the same number of points. Sterzing celebrated a total of six wins in a row in the Alps Hockey League. Adam Capannelli was outstanding as the WSV top scorer scored nine goals and made four assists. The EC Bregenzerwald has two points and is bottom of the table in the Master Round. The Vorarlberg side won their home game against Sterzing 1:0. The Broncos won the return match 2:0.

For the second time this month, the Steel Wings LINZ AG will face the HC Meran/o Pircher. On January 5, the South Tyroleans narrowly prevailed 5:4/OT. Top duel in Qualification Round B between leader EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and the first pursuer Hockey Unterland Cavaliers. Both teams are separated by just one point and can take a big step towards the Pre-Playoffs with a win. The two teams already faced each other in the Qualification Round last Thursday. In that meeting, Unterland clearly won 4:1 at home, with Kitzbühel leading 1:0 after the first period. In the second game of the Qualification Round, the South Tyroleans lost 1:3 in Lustenau, while Kitzbühel prevailed 6:4 in Fassa. Kitzbühel won both head-to-head duels in the Regular Season.

The SHC Fassa Falcons and the EC-KAC Future Team will also face each other for the second time in the Qualification Round.
