The Salzburg derby between EK Die Zeller Eisbären and Red Bull Hockey Juniors will take place for the second time this season. In the first duel of the season, on October 10, Zell am See, also at home, won 3:0. This will be the second-placed team's first match after the international break. The Juniors, who are seventh in the table, have already been in action twice this week and celebrated two narrow home victories.

League leaders KHL Sisak celebrated their sixth win in a row on Thursday and are currently two points ahead of second-placed Zell am See. On Saturday, the Croatians will face HC Meran/o Pircher away from home. After a good start to the season, the South Tyroleans had a lot problems lately, celebrating just one win from their last six games and slipping to twelfth in the table. The “Eagles” lost their first match of the season against Sisak 2:4 away from home.

Saturday will also see a rematch of the 2023 final, with champions SIJ Acroni Jesenice taking on final opponents S.G. Cortina Hafro. The Slovenians won the final series 4:2. The two teams only met twice last season. On each occasion, the home team narrowly won. In the current campaign, Jesenice won the first duel of the season 4:2. In the meantime, however, the visitors from Cortina were already 2:0 ahead. Both teams are currently in good form. Third-placed Jesenice have won four of their last six matches, while sixth-placed Cortina have recently won three in a row.

The match between Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan sees two teams with poor form against each other. While the Tyroleans have not won any of their last five games, the visitors from South Tyrol have only been victorious in one of their last seven games. However, Sterzing celebrated their one success on Thursday at home against Val Gardena (8:2). Nevertheless, the Broncos are still in last place in the table, while Kitzbühel, who led the table for a long time, are fourth. In the first duel of the season, Kitzbühel won 3:0 away from home.

In the fifth match of the day, EC Bregenzerwald will face HK RST Pellet Celje. It will be the first match for the visitors from Slovenia after the international break. Before the break, the team in ninth place in the table won four of its last five games. Bregenzerwald was already in action on Thursday, losing narrowly 2:3 at Red Bull Hockey Juniors, but had won three games in a row before the break. In the head-to-head, ECB clearly had the upper hand in the first duel of the season with 6:2.
