Salzburg ends Fehérvár's winning streak

After five wins from the first five games, league leader Hydro Fehérvár AV19 suffered their first defeat. The Hungarians lost with 0:3 at the EC Red Bull Salzburg. For the Red Bulls it was the fourth win of the season, which brings them temporarily to the third place in the table. RBS goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen made his debut and promptly celebrated a shutout.

It was the second game within 24 hours for both the EC Red Bull Salzburg and Hydro Fehérvár AV19. The Red Bulls were successful at the HC Pustertal on Friday with 4:3-OT, Fehérvár gave the Dornbirn Bulldogs no chance (6:3). Accordingly, both teams started cautiously into the game. There were hardly any big chances in the first period. There were also no penalties given in the first 20 minutes of play.

In the second period, it also took a little before the 1850 fans in the Eisarena Salzburg could cheer for the first time in the 29th minute. After Vincent Lo Verde got the puck on the boards, German Danjo Leonhardt scored to give the Red Bulls the lead. It was the 19-years-old first goal for Salzburg's first team. Still in the second period captain Thomas Raffl increased to 2:0 (36.). For the 36-years-old veteran it was the third goal of the season.



Also in the final period from the guests from Fehérvár came little. When they had chances, RBS goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen was always on the spot. The 26-years-old Finn made his debut for the Red Bulls and promptly celebrated a shutout. The final goal was scored by new signing Ali Wukovits 25 seconds before the end of the game. Fehérvár will remain league leader after the sixth matchday. With four points behind, the HCB Südtirol Alperia and the EC Red Bull Salzburg are the first pursuers.
