After 14 games in a row in which the EC-KAC was able to score points and thus climb to the top of the table, EC Red Bull Salzburg managed to stop Klagenfurt's run on Sunday. The reigning champions, on the other hand, were able to continue their streak of home game wins against the KAC. The Red Bulls won their sixth home duel against the KAC over the seasons. For the Red Bulls, the 4:1 win on Sunday evening - which was only so clear because of two empty-net goals - was their third victory in their fourth meeting with Klagenfurt this season. The reigning champions moved up to second place in the table - level on points with third-placed Hydro Fehérvár AV 19 - just one point behind the KAC.

Graz and Ljubljana pull off surprises
The Moser Medical Graz99ers proved to be the next "stumbling block" for the Steinbach Black Wings Linz on Sunday evening. The team at the bottom of the table beat the Upper Austrians 3:2 after overtime to inflict their fourth defeat in a row. The decisive factor in the game was the Latvian Renars Krastenbergs, who not only gave the Styrians a 2:1 lead at one stage, but also scored the game-winning goal in overtime. As a result, the Black Wings are still unable to break free in the battle for the top 6 in the table.

HK SZ Olimpija celebrated a surprising 3:0 shutout victory over HCB Südtirol Alperia in the 40th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League. The Slovenians were much more efficient in their home game than the visitors from Bolzano and built up a 2:0 lead in the first 20 minutes. This was the fifth defeat in the last six games for the South Tyroleans, who missed the chance to reclaim a top-six place. Ljubljana, on the other hand, took a big step towards the pre-playoffs with their fifth win in the last seven games.
