Final two was also dominated by the defenses of both sides from the beginning. Big chances were scarce in the first period. Bolzano had the upper hand in the shot statistics with 13:7 shots on goal, also due to a powerplay. In the end, however, it went scoreless into the first break.

The second period began with a power play for Salzburg after Ryan Culkin was sent to the penalty box for two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct. In this, the Red Bulls created several chances, and in the 24th minute it was Florian Baltram who had the biggest chance to make it 1:0, but Bolzano goalkeeper Sam Harvey was once again not to be overcome. Salzburg was clearly the better team and created chance after chance. Finally, after 31 minutes, Martin Stajnoch scored spectacularly to make it 1:0 for the home side. For the Slovakian it was the first goal in the Red Bulls kit. The 32-year-old's goal ended a 91-minute final drought for Salzburg. The Red Bulls' negative record from the 2007/08 season of 94 minutes without a goal in the final series thus remains intact. Salzburg continued to set the tone, but failed to increase the lead to 2:0.

In the final period, Bolzano had a few chances to score, but Daniel Frank had the best chance in the 46th minute when he scated alone towards Tolvanen but missed the short corner. In the last minutes of the game, Bolzano missed the equalizer in a double powerplay situation, as goalie Harvey was taken off the ice and Ali Wukovits had to go to the penalty box. Thus, in the end Salzburg deservedly prevailed 1:0, which is why for the first time in a playoff series two games ended 1:0. The final series will be continued on Tuesday in Bolzano. Free-TV partner PULS 24 will broadcast live from 19:05.
