Salzburg extends with defensive routiniers

EC Red Bull Salzburg will continue to work with defensemen Chay Genoway, Tyler Lewington, Dennis Robertson and Ryan Murphy in the 2024/25 season. All four routiniers have extended their contracts with the champions of the win2day ICE Hockey League.

Chay Genoway (37), Tyler Lewington (29) and Dennis Robertson (32) came to Salzburg two years ago, won the championship with the Red Bulls in both seasons and are now entering their third season with the club. For Ryan Murphy (31) it will be his second season in Salzburg.

When Chay Genoway came to Salzburg two years ago, he already had a Swedish championship title in Europe and a Champions Hockey League win with the Frölunda Indians (2019) on his CV. The Canadian also brought with him a wealth of experience from several years in the KHL. The assistant captain has now won his second championship title with the Red Bulls back to back. With 11 goals, he also scored the most goals of the Salzburg defensemen and was the fourth-best scorer of all league defensemen.

For Tyler Lewington, the Red Bulls were the first stop of his career in Europe two years ago. Lewington. Dennis Robertson played his fourth season in the cross-border league last season. With a total of 8 goals, the former Calder Cup champion also scored one more goal than in the previous season.

Ryan Murphy joined the Red Bulls last summer and has the most NHL appearances of any Salzburg player with 176 games. In the win2day ICE Hockey League last season, he recorded 10 goals and 29 assists, making Murphy the fifth-best player in Salzburg in terms of scoring points.
