While Salzburg only advanced to the knockout stage on the last gameday of the group phase - thanks to a point win in a 3-2 defeat at Fribourg-Gottéron - the current twelfth-placed team in the Swedish SHL played a remarkable CHL regular season, giving up only one point (3-2 defeat after overtime against Zurich).

Captain Thomas Raffl is ready to go
Captain Thomas Raffl has reported fit again for the duel with Rögle BK. The forward has only played eleven games since the start of the season and is now making his comeback after a one-and-a-half-month injury layoff.

The round of 16 first leg takes place on Tuesday at 8:20 p.m. in the Salzburg Eisarena. The "Red Bulls" will only have to do without convalescents Ty Loney, Troy Bourke and Lucas Thaler (upper body injury after last week's games with the Austrian national team). Lukas Schreier is also looking forward to his comeback after almost two months of injury.

Champions Hockey League | Playoffs
In the CHL playoffs, the first three playoff rounds (eighth, quarter and semifinals) will be scored with home and away games in the aggregate score mode. The season will conclude on February 18th with the one-game finals.

The playoff stages will be played in a home-and-away format. The team with the better aggregate score from both games advances. The first game can ends in a tie after 60 minutes. There can be a 10-minute overtime (3 vs. 3) and a possible penalty shootout (5 penalties per team, then until a decision is made) only after the second game if the total result of both games is tied there after 60 minutes.
