EC Red Bull Salzburg also won the fourth semifinal match of the win2day ICE Hockey League against the spusu Vienna Capitals in Vienna with 5:1 and thus decided the "best-of-seven" series as already in the quarterfinal against Znojmo with a sweep. The hosts offered the Red Bulls another racy duel and took the lead in the 16th minute with a powerplay goal by Matthew Prapavessis. Still in the first period (19th) TJ Brennen scored from the half-high slot to make it 1:1 at the break. In the second period, the Red Bulls continued to play at a high tempo and had more and more of the game, making it 3:1 after 40 minutes. Ali Wukovits netted on the power play and Peter Schneider scored in the 39th minute from the left face-off circle. In the final period, Brian Lebler scored from close range in the 43rd minute after a Salzburg counterattack to make it 4:1 and set the tone for the game. The Capitals fought hard until the end and gave the Red Bulls a great fight. However, there was no way through the strong Salzburg goalie Atte Tolvanen and Thomas Raffl scored the fifth goal into the empty net to seal a clear victory for the Red Bulls in Vienna. This was the first time since 2018 that the Salzburgers had reached the final.

Fehervar secures match pucks and qualifies for CHL
In the second semifinal series, Hydro Fehérvár AV19 picked up their third win in a row against VSV, who were shorthanded - the Blue and Whites had to give up no less than seven players. The Hungarians took the momentum from the shutout win in Villach with them and also led the way in Game 4. Captain János Hári put the home side ahead in the third minute. A Terbocs brace within two minutes even gave Fehervar a 3:0 lead, but Renars Krastenbergs got the Carinthians on the scoreboard before the end of the first period. In the 29th minute, the visitors even tied the score: First Derek Joslin scored on power play and only 55 seconds later Krastenbergs found the back of the net after winning a face-off to make it 3:3. But Csanad Erdely regained the lead for the team from Székesfehérvár. In the final period both teams had chances, the Villach side was unlucky when just hitting the bar. It was only when goalkeeper Karhunen was replaced by a sixth skater that Rick Schofield (59th) managed to equalise again. The game went into overtime and ended as it had begun: with a Hari goal - the 29-year-old had the necessary luck on his side with his finish in the 63rd minute. This means that the Hungarians can fix their first final appearance as early as Friday in Villach.

The playoff elimination of the spusu Vienna Capitals also means that Hydro Fehérvár AV19 will be the third win2day ICE Hockey League participant in the 2022/23 Champions Hockey League.
