After their 5:3 win over EV Zug, EC Red Bull Salzburg faced HK Mountfield in the final of the Red Bulls Salute on Sunday evening. The win2day ICE Hockey League champions, who had to do without Dominique Heinrich, had good chances in the first period, but failed to score. Somewhat against the course of the game, Mountfield took the lead in the 29th minute through Nikita Ščerbak. After a quick turnover, the forward scored into the far corner.
