Salzburg presents first new arrival | Further roster updates

On Tuesday, six teams of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League presents further roster activities. While the EC Red Bull Salzburg signed former Linz player Rick Schofield, the Upper Austrians welcome back Andrew Kozek and Marc-André Dorion and re-signed three more players. The HCB Südtirol Alperia brought back Brett Findlay foxes’ best scorer of the 18-19 campaign, while Vienna and Klagenfurt each announced a contract extension. League’s newcomer iClinic Bratislava Capitals signed Michel Miklik on a try-out and opens the preseason tonight, taking on HKM Zvolen on the road.

Rick Schofield Salzburg’s first new arrival
Rick Schofield is the first new arrival of the EC Red Bull Salzburg for the 20-21 season in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. The Canadian forward arrives from league rival Black Wings Linz. He spent the last four seasons in Linz. In 52 past season games he scored 31 goals and dished 32 assists. In the three playoff games against EC-KAC, the forward scored an average of two points per game. Before his long-term engagement in Upper Austria, the Canadian played already for HCB Südtirol Alperia (2013 - 2015) and for EC-VSV. Further, Salzburg announced that Michael Schiechl, Bud Holloway, Samuel Witting and Julian Klöckl will leave the club.



Linz welcomes two returnees and presents three contract extensions

The Black Wings Linz have brought back Marc-André Dorion and Andrew Kozek. With Valentin Leiler, Marco Brucker and David Kickert, the Upper Austrians each agreed on a contract extension. After two seasons at the spusu Vienna Capitals Marc-André Dorion joins the Black Wings Linz again. The 33-year-old already played for the Upper Austrians between 2012 and 2018, scoring 234 points. From EC-KAC Andrew Kozek returns to the Black Wings. He was there between 2013 and 2016. In In 123 games for Klagenfurt the forward netted 56 times.

Bolzano brings in Brett Findlay
After one season in the DEL, Brett Findlay returned to the HCB Südtirol Alperia. The Canadian was foxes’ best scorer in the 2018/19 season, scoring 55 overall in league and CHL games. Despite suffering an injury missing the postseason he switched to the DEL: first to the Iserlohn Roosters (23 games, 14 points) and then to ERC Ingolstadt (24 games, 12 points). After a season in Germany the playmaker now returned to Bolzano.



Klagenfurt and Vienna with re-signings

Both, the EC-KAC and the spusu Vienna Capitals announced further contract extensions. Martin Schumnig signed a two-year contract extension with the “Rotjacken”, as the defender has never represented another team than Klagenfurt throughout his career. The Viennese re-signed Patrick Peter, as the defender will return for his 11th pro season at the “Caps”.

Bratislava opens preseason and signs Michel Miklik on a try-out
The iClinic Bratislava Capitals signed the Slovakian veteran and former Vice World Champion Michel Miklik on a try-out contract. In his career he also won the national title three times - most recently in the 2010/11 season with HC Kosice. This was followed by engagements in the KHL, where he played for HC Slovan Bratislava and Amur Khabarovsk. For a short time he was also active in Finland and the Czech Republic. The last season he spent again with "Slovan", but then changed to second division club HC Topolcany.

The iClinic Bratislava Capitals will start their preseason on Tuesday, 18 August at 6 p.m., taking on HKM Zvolen on the road.
