EC Red Bull Salzburg has been confirmed as the first quarter-finalist of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League, as a dominant 3-0 road win at HCB Südtirol Alperia, Salzburg's seventh shutout win of the season, means the six-time champions can no longer be ousted from the top six. A well-placed shot by TJ Brennan (19.) from the high slot gave Salzburg the lead shortly before the first intermission - in the second period Ty Loney (26./PP2, 39.) provided the preliminary decision. Goalie JP Lamoureux recorded his second shutout of the season and defender Mike Dalhuisen made his debut for Salzburg. HCB Südtirol Alperia have suffered its fourth defeat in a row and remains in eighth place.

Pustertal takes fifth place
HC Pustertal Wölfe extended its winning streak at EC GRAND Immo VSV and scored fifth success en suite with the 6:2 road win, lifting the ICE newcomer to fifth place in standings for the first time. The "Wolves" benefited from a brilliant start in this game, which could not take place the night before due to a delayed arrival from Bruneck: Greg Carey (2. /PP1), Max Gerlach (4.) and Raphael Andergassen (7.) quickly ensured a clear lead and the end of goalie Alexander Schmidt. Even a blueliner by Jamie Fraser (10./PP1) and Andreas Bernard did not let Villach come back. With three more goals, the guests set off for a clear victory, which they also owe to goalie Tomas Sholl, who saved 51 shots on goal. For the second-ranked VSV ended an eight-game winning streak. Already tomorrow, Thursday, HC Pustertal will play in Ljubljana.
