Seventh season-win for Salzburg
With its seventh season-win the EC Red Bull Salzburg set a new team’s starting record, topping their performance of the 2006-07 season. After the 4:3 shootout-home-win against EC Panaceo VSV, Salzburg leads in standings with 19 points gained. It was “Red Bull’s” 67th victory in the 112th battle with the “eagles”, which early lead was turned around by Thomas Raffl and Derek Joslin within the first. Jerry Pollastrone tied it twice for the guests in the following frames, after Raffl’s second goal gave Salzburg another lead. In shootout, again Raffl and netminder JP Lamoureux stepped up for the hosts and gave them a win.
Vienna secured derby-win
With a goal of Julian Großlercher about five minutes left, the spusu Vienna Capitals grabbed a tight 3:2 derby-win at HC Orli Znojmo, as the Austrian side cheered the 19th road-win at the Czech team in the 25th meeting. In a high-paced hockey-game Vienna let slip away a 2:0 lead about halfway through the first, when Aaron Berisha and Radim Matus tied it for the “eagles”.
Innsbruck remain hot, celebrates another comeback-win
The HC TWK Innsbruck “Die Haie” again trailed big, but fought back and celebrated a 6:5 comeback-win after shootout at Moser Medical Graz99ers, which suffered their first home-defeat. For the sixth time this season the “sharks” played overtime, for the second time in a row shootout too – and they grabbed their third consecutive win. A shorthander of Zintis Zusevics cleared it almost for Graz about halfway through the second, as Innsbruck stroke back with three straight goals and tied it later for the second time, after Aslin, who had a brace, retook the lead for the 99ers. After a non-goal extra-session, CJ Motte secured the win for the guests.
Kickert’s shutout gives Linz clear victory
A shutout of David Kickert, his first in the running season, gave the EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz a clear 4:0 home-win against Hydro Fehérvár AV19. Kickert saved 28 shots on his goal. The Hungarian side suffered their fifth consecutive defeat, dropping to 10th place in standings, while Linz moves to 7th place.
