Release from 19.12.2025
The five Friday games in the win2day ICE Hockey League delivered plenty of action once again. EC-KAC held on to first place in the standings thanks to a 5–2 home win over the Pioneers Vorarlberg, extending their lead to two points over the Moser Medical Graz99ers, who defeated Hydro Fehérvár AV19 4–2. Defending champions EC Red Bull Salzburg edged past the Steinbach Black Wings Linz 3–2, with Thomas Raffl scoring the game-winner just 37 seconds before the end. Elsewhere, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV squandered a 3–0 lead against FTC-Telekom, allowing the Hungarians to leapfrog the Carinthians in the standings. Thanks to a 4–1 win at Olimpija Ljubljana, HC Falkensteiner Pustertal closed level with the Slovenians in the table. Olimpija now sit third, followed by the South Tyroleans. Round 30 will conclude on Saturday with HCB Südtirol Alperia hosting the Vienna Capitals. A win for Vienna would see them draw level on points with 10th-placed Linz.
EC Red Bull Salzburg celebrated their fourth straight win with a dramatic late success at the Steinbach Black Wings Linz. Thomas Raffl struck with just 37 seconds remaining to seal a 3–2 victory in front of 4,700 fans. Salzburg had twice taken the lead at 1–0 and 2–1, but 10th-placed Linz always found an answer. Shawn St-Amant equalised shorthanded after Michael Raffl’s opener, and Graham Knott made it 2–2 in the 52nd minute after Dennis Robertson had restored Salzburg’s lead early in the third period (41st). In the end, Linz suffered a second consecutive defeat and remain 10th, three points clear of the Vienna Capitals. Vienna close out Round 30 in Bolzano on Saturday and could draw level with Linz with a win. Salzburg stay sixth, now seven points clear of seventh-placed Budapest.
KAC stay on top
EC-KAC maintained their top position with a 5–2 home win over the Pioneers Vorarlberg. With 58 points, the Klagenfurt side now hold a two-point cushion over closest challengers Graz. The Pioneers remain 11th, still 12 points behind 10th-placed Linz. In a tightly contested opening, Matt Fraser put the hosts ahead in the 15th minute. A quick double by Tobias Sablattnig and Josh Teves in the 30th and 31st minutes gave the KAC a commanding 3–0 lead midway through the game. The Pioneers pushed hard in the final period, pulling one back with a spectacular volley by Kevin Macierzynski, before Eric Florchuk made it 3–2 in the 52nd minute. Mathias From then sealed the win, scoring on a 5-on-3 power play in the 56th minute and adding an empty-net goal with 55 seconds left. It marked five wins from the last six games for KAC.
Graz grind out home win over Fehérvár
Despite leading 2–0, second-placed Moser Medical Graz99ers had to battle until the end against Hydro Fehérvár AV19. After a scoreless first period, Graz built a two-goal lead by the 30th minute, only for Fehérvár to level the game by the 47th. Michael Schiechl restored the home side’s advantage in the 55th minute, and captain Korbinian Holzer sealed the 4–2 win with an empty-netter one minute from time. It was Fehérvár’s third straight loss, while Graz recorded their seventh win in the last eight games, remaining two points behind league leaders KAC.
Villach blow 3–0 lead
FTC-Telekom prevailed 5–4 at EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV after Villach had raced to a 3–0 lead inside 26 minutes. An astonishing seven of the nine goals came in the middle period. FTC cut the deficit to 3–2, before the VSV moved ahead again at 4–2. However, the score was tied 4–4 after 40 minutes, and Tyler Coulter netted the decisive power-play goal in the 50th minute. It was Coulter’s second goal of the night. FTC moved ahead of Villach in the standings into seventh, while the VSV drop to eighth, one point behind the Hungarians.
Pustertal with lightning start and clear win in Ljubljana
In the marquee matchup of Round 30, HC Falkensteiner Pustertal claimed a convincing 4–1 road win over new third-placed Olimpija Ljubljana. Both teams are now level on 53 points. Just 11 seconds into the game, Alexander Ierullo capitalised on a major error by Olimpija goaltender Lukáš Horák to give the visitors the lead. Further goals in the 12th and 20th minutes put Pustertal firmly in control at 3–0 after the first period. The second period remained scoreless, before Ljubljana got on the board 23 seconds into the third. Cole Bardreau, who had already scored a highlight-reel goal for 2–0, completed his brace in the 48th minute to seal the win. It was Ljubljana’s first defeat after three straight wins, while Pustertal celebrated their second consecutive victory.
