The DEC Salzburg Eagles secured an important shootout victory over the Lakers Carinthia in the race for a spot in the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League Final 4. In the European Women’s Hockey League, Budapest Jegkorong Akademia and HK PSRZ Bratislava both celebrated wins.

The battle for the final Final 4 berth in the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League could hardly be tighter. After two games played, the Lakers Carinthia lead the standings with four points, followed by the Graz Huskies with three and the DEC Salzburg Eagles with two.

Salzburg collected their first points of the Qualification Round on Saturday. After falling behind 0:2, they mounted a comeback against the league leaders and eventually prevailed 3:2 in a shootout. Rebecca Clarke netted the decisive penalty shot.

In the European Women’s Hockey League, Budapest Jegkorong Akademia recorded a convincing 4:0 shutout win over Tauron Metropolia Silesia. The matchup between HK PSRZ Bratislava and MAC Budapest was much tighter. After MAC opened the scoring early, Bratislava responded, tied the game and ultimately claimed a 2:1 shootout victory.
