Short text 652 CharactersPlain text

The EC Red Bull Salzburg took the "best-of-7" semifinal series with HCB Südtirol Alperia to a decisive seventh game. On Saturday evening, the reigning champions won 4-1 on the road in the sold-out Sparkasse Arena in Bolzano. Strong penalty-killing helped Salzburg to their third semi-final win. All four goals were scored by local players.

This means that the fourth playoff confrontation between these two teams will also be decided in the last possible game.

Semifinal game seven will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd at 7:30 pm in Salzburg. PULS 24 will broadcast this showdown live on TV, on www.puls24.at/eishockey and on Joyn from 7.05 pm.

The EC Red Bull Salzburg has averted an exit from the semifinals for the time being, as the defending champions beat HCB Südtirol Alperia 4-1 in the Sparkasse Arena, which was sold out for the second time this season with 6,856 fans. The line-ups of both teams were almost unchanged from the fifth clash: Salzburg saw the return of Cameron Schilling, who had been suspended, while Bolzano was again without the long-term injured Scott Valentine and Enrico Miglioranzi.

The Foxes got off to a much better start, applying a lot of pressure in the first four minutes – before Salzburg managed to score the first goal: Benjamin Nissner (5.) finished off a perfect play via Peter Schneider, Thomas Raffl and Schilling in the slot. The rest of the first period offered both teams good phases and great opportunities. The best was for Dustin Gazley, who shot against the bar. Salzburg were particularly strong when short-handed.

Dustin Gazley (21.) quickly equalized at the start of the second period: after his wrist shot, the puck bounced over Tolvanen's glove. Salzburg went on the attack again, applying a lot of pressure in the 27th minute – before Florian Baltram, who hadn't scored a postseason goal in over two years, shot in from the high slot. Then it was Salzburg's PK unit's turn again, not conceding a goal for over a minute and a half in a three-on-five. The visitors began to take control of the game, used a powerplay one-timer from Peter Schneider (43.) to double their lead and then had more pace and energy to play the game safely home. The final goal was scored by Thomas Raffl with an empty-netter. After his assist for the first goal of the evening, it was his 107th playoff point for EC Red Bull Salzburg. He thus overtook Ryan Duncan (106) and set a new team all-time record.
