Bolzano came out hard and had some good chances in an early power play but Petan, Tomassoni and Gartner could not find the back of the net. After Salzburg's Stajnoch hit the post, the guests opened the scoring with a man advantage when a HCB player deflected a Schremp shot into the own net. With Matthias Trattnig being in the sin bin, the foxes tied it late in the period. Petan finished a great combination with Egger and Miceli for a 1:1 score after 20 minutes. In the middle frame Bolzano took the lead twice but the Red Bulls always had an answer. De Sousa turned the game after a pass from Bernard but soon later Schiechl lit the lamp to tie it at two. After the midway point of the game Bernard restored Bolzano's lead. Joy was short-lived again when Cijan fired a one timer home just 20 seconds later. With two minutes to go in the second Schremp put the visitors ahead on power play to end an entertaining period. Three minutes after the restart Salzburg added a fifth with Duncan deflecting a Raymond shot successfully. Bolzano tired hard to come back but failed this evening. Brouillette rounded of the scoring with keeping his nerves in a 1 on 0 situation for a 6:3 road win.
