Salzburg with big success in CHL, Caps lost in Finnland

The EC Red Bull Salzburg won against the Slovakian Champ HC Banska Bystrica with 5:0 and captured the second place in group A of Champions Hockey League. The Vienna Capitals had to take a 1:4 defeat against the finnish top club JYP Jyväskylä in the same competition. Five other teams of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga had the opportunity to prepare in friendly games for the upcoming season.

Salzburg with big success in CHL
 
The EC Red Bull Salzburg dominated the game against HC Banska Bystrica in there second appearance of this Champions Hockey League season. The Red Bulls won 5:0 – four goals were scored in powerplay. 
 
The hosts started with high pressure into the game and worked for chances quite early. At the end of the beginning period, Salzburg succeeded twice during powerplay. First striked Alexander Rauchenwald, then Brand Harris increased. The Caps brought their energy also into the second period. First Salzburg missed a penalty, but then Rauchenwald striked again. Alexander Cijan was able to increase to 4:0 still in the second period. The powerplay worked well also in the final period. Ryan Duncan created the result of 5:0. 

Caps with defeat against the favorite of the group
The Vienna Capitals had to take a 1:4 defeat against the Finnish top club  JYP Jyväskylä. Newcomer Jérôme Samson scored the only goal for the champ of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. After two games in CHL Vienna captured one point so far.
 
The caps started with high energy into the game. But JYP Jyväskylä profited early of a powerplay situation for the 1:0. The Caps on the other side had some difficulties with their powerplays. Riley Holzapfel missed the big chance, Valtteri Hotakainen did it better and increased to 2:0. The Caps increased their energy in the second period, but weren’t able to score in the second period. In the 47 minute the Finnish club scored for the third time, but Vienna answered quickly and Jérôme Samson scored. 11 seconds before the end Jyväskyla created the result of 4:1.
 
Penalty win of Linz in last frinedly home game 
Die LIWEST Black Wings are still undefeated in the preseason. But it was a tough win for Linz against the Augsburg Panther after leading by 2:0. Augsburg fought back managed to tie the game in the second period and event took the lead in the third. Sebastian Piche took responsibility and brought Linz into the penalty shoot out. Lebler and Broda scored and Augsburg missed to penalties.  
 
VSV with successful general rehearsal against Zagreb 
The EC VSV won against the EBEL comebacker Medveščak Zagreb a riendly game with 3:0. Kyle Beach and twice Christof Kromp took responsibility for the goals. It was the first defeat for Zagreb in this preseason. 
 
Bulldogs fought for win
The Dornbirn Bulldogs won a friendly home game against Bietigheim Steelers with 4:2. In a quick starting period Bietigheim took the quick 2:0 lead. Martin Grabher Meier narrowed the gap still in the first period. In the second period Scott Timmins scored for the well-deserved tie. The final period was highly competitive – Chris D`Alvise brought the salvation after a double strike. 
 
Fehervar AV 19 books first preseason win
Fehervar won its first game this season against MsHK Zilina in the Visegrad Cup. The home team was the better team on ice thorughout the whole game, while the guests threatened only for minutes in each period. Latendresse got his team in the lead in the first period with a rebound goal. In the middle of the period, Holovic used a powerplay opportunity for his team, and the result remained 1-1 until the third period. The middle period went on with many chances and in a  good pace, with both teams having the chance to decide the game early on. The last period brought a very good, hard game with penalties and 5 goals. The period didn’t start well for the Hungarians as Stupka scored for his team but Benoit Laporte’s team gradually got better and better and after many penalties on both sides, Gilbert scored in the upper right corner 10 minutes before the end of the game. Two minutes later Vidmar scored his team’s third goal in another powerplay. Shortly after a goalie change, Luttinen put a puck from close into the net and Gilbert scored just 35 seconds before the end.
