Friday will be the first opportunity for Salzburg to celebrate the tenth championship title in the club's history - and for the first time in 18 years in front of a home crowd. The last team to win the title on home ice was the KAC in 2019.

Under former Head Coach Matt McIlvane and now under Oliver David, the Red Bulls have enjoyed a remarkable run of success in the postseason: Since the semi-final exit against the EC-KAC in 2021, Salzburg has won eleven playoff series in a row, winning 47 of 59 knockout games in the process - an unprecedented figure in the period since the league was founded in 2000.

The current dominance in the final series is based on great efficiency in attack (nine goals with 6.8 expected goals) and an impressively stable defense, which has only conceded two goals in the three games so far and has already recorded 48 blocks.

The KAC has only lost twice in its 46 “best-of-7” series to date - in the 2015 semi-final against Salzburg and in the 2017 final against Vienna. There have been a total of four sweeps in the league's finals history: Salzburg remained unbeaten in the final series in 2022 (vs. AVS) and 2015 (vs. VIC). The KAC, on the other hand, also secured the championship title without defeat against Vienna in 2013.
