EC Red Bull Salzburg already has the chance to become champion of the win2day ICE Hockey League on Monday when they visit Hydro Fehérvár AV19. Never before a team managed to turn around a 0:3 deficit in the final. Nevertheless, the Hungarians are eager for their first victory in the final of the multinational league. The Red Bulls, on the other hand, could become only the second team - after the spusu Vienna Capitals in 2017 - to complete a perfect postseason without a single defeat.

EC Red Bull Salzburg travels to Székesfehérvár with a comfortable 3-0 cushion, with a chance to become win2day ICE Hockey League champions without a single defeat. While Salzburg's record reads impressive, the three final games against Hydro Fehérvár AV19 so far have all been on a knife's edge until the closing minutes - and even beyond in Game 1. While in the first final game the score was even for almost 82 minutes, in the second and third final game the Hungarians were even able to take interim leads. In the three final games so far, the Red Bulls have led for just 36 minutes and 23 seconds out of a total of just under 205 minutes of play. However, it was still not enough for the first victory in the final in the club history of Fehérvár. A sell-out crowd at the Ocskay Gábor Arena wants to make sure of that. The Hungarian fans have played a major role in breaking the 100,000 spectator mark in the postseason of the win2day ICE Hockey League.

Never before has a team come back from a 0:3 deficit in the final to play in the sixth or seventh game
EC Red Bull Salzburg is seeking its seventh title since joining the league after 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2015 and 2016. For the first time, however, the Salzburgers could complete a perfect postseason. So far, only the spusu Vienna Capitals managed this in 2017, but a sweep in the final would be nothing new for Salzburg. They already achieved that in 2015, when they were crowned champions for the fifth time as guests of Villach. Since the league was founded (00/01), the champions have only managed to complete a final series without defeat three times (2013 KAC, 2015 RBS and 2017 VIC). It is only the fourth time in league history that a team has led 3-0 in a "best-of-seven" finals series, and only once did the opposition manage to force a fifth game. In the second season after the league's reestablishment, the Black Wings Linz tied Villach 1:3 in the final series before the Eagles lifted the championship trophy. Never before has a team come into a sixth or even seventh game after trailing 0:3 in the final.
