Salzburg's Matthew Generous automatically suspended one game

After his second fighting major in the 2017/18 Erste Bank Eishockey Liga season, Matthew Generous was automatically suspended for one game. The incident involving Christopher DeSousa and Tom Zanoski in yesterday's game HCB Südtirol Alperia at KHL Medvescak Zagreb at the conclusion of the 1st period is currently under review by the EBEL Hockey Operation Department. There will be no final decision today with both players being suspended indefinetly.

According to the Arbitrator and after reviewing video evidence, player Matthew Generous (#7) of EC Red Bull Salzburg, time 11:48, engaged in a fight with an opponent deemed as Fighting IIHF Rule 141.
 
Neither fight was it determined that the opposing player was the instigator. Matthew Generous was deemed a willing combatant, constituting his 2nd fighting major in the 2017/18 EBEL season on 17.12.2017.
 
Matthew Generous is suspended automatically for the ensuing EBEL game, according to the EBEL Casebook Disciplinary Measures | Supplementary Discipline (DOPS) | (2) which states “If a player is assessed a fighting major for the 2nd time during the EBEL regular season, such player is assessed an automatic one (1) game suspension, in addition to any other penalties assessed.”

From the perspective of DOPS and according to the EBEL Casebook -Disciplinary Measures | Supplementary Discipline (DOPS) | (2) Matthew Generous (#7) of EC Red Bull Salzburg is suspended for 1 game, effective immediately.
