Win2day ICE Hockey League | 29.09.2023 | 6th round | Schedule:
Fr, 29.09.2023, 7.15 pm: Moser Medical Graz99ers – HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie
Referees: FICHTNER, RENCZ, Bedynek, Gatol-Schafranek. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
The Moser Medical Graz99ers are aiming for their first win in their fifth game of the season, facing HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie on Friday evening. The surprise team of the previous season, meanwhile, has found its way into the new season very well, winning three of their five games so far and already picking up nine points. The "Haie" are once again a force to be reckoned with, especially offensively: with 16 goals scored, they are in third place in terms of productivity. Graz has only scored eight goals so far. Two league-tested newcomers should help, as Chris Dodero, 30 points for Ljubljana last year, and Blaz Gregorc, formerly of Klagenfurt and Linz, are expected to make their debuts. Last season, the Tyroleans won three of the four meeting, including both games in the "Bunker".
Fr, 29.09.2023, 7.15 pm: spusu Vienna Capitals – Hydro Fehérvár AV19
Referees: HRONSKY, HUBER A., Durmis, Sparer. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
The spusu Vienna Capitals also presented a new addition: Carsen Twarynski strengthens yellow-black, but can not yet be used. Recently, the Viennese have attracted attention with two victories, Villach and Feldkirch were defeated. With rank seven, the team around Dominique Heinrich, who played his 800th league game on Tuesday, is currently only one point short of the top six. Hydro Fehérvár AV19 has this one point more (9) on its account. The Hungarians have already won three times this year and have impressed so far when shorthanded: despite many penalties, 26 and with Pustertal the most in the league, David Kiss' team has only conceded two goals one man down (92.3%). The Hungarians have won the last two games in Vienna. The "Caps" are missing Hackl, Böhm and Zusevics.
Fr, 29.09.2023, 7.15 pm: EC-KAC – Steinbach Black Wings Linz
Referees: GROZNIK, REZEK, Seewald E., Seewald J. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
With two defeats and two wins the record of EC-KAC in the young championship is balanced. In the lone home game so far, the Austrian record champions outclassed Szekesfehervar 7-3, while opponents Steinbach Black Wings Linz have been waiting for their second win since the first game of the season (3-2 OT @HKO). The Upper Austrians are thus confronted with the second-worst opening phase of a season in the course of their first league affiliation: in now 24 campaigns, they only had fewer points on their account in 20-21 after four completed games. The Black Wings' offense is also not yet on fire: in absolute terms, seven goals are the second-weakest output in the win2day ICE Hockey League. In addition, Linz has a partially injury-related problems, as Gaffal, Kristler are injured, Rasmus Tirronen is missing for personal reasons. Gerd Kragl will make his comeback after overcoming a torn cruciate ligament.
Of a total of 147 encounters against each other, the Linz side have won 80. In the recent past, however, the EC-KAC managed to improve its record again: seven of the last eleven direct duels went to the Carinthians, although they could only win the fourth and last meeting in the past season 2022/23. At home, Klagenfurt has won only two of the last ten games against the Upper Austrians. Gomboc, Obersteiner, Herburger, Jensen Aabo and probably also Dahm will be missing for the "Rotjacken".
Fr, 29.09.2023, 7.15 pm: EC Red Bull Salzburg – EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV
Referees: NIKOLIC M., SIEGEL, Moidl, Riecken. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
Salzburg sees the chasing duel, as EC Red Bull Salzburg (#2) hosts EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV (#3). Both teams hold twelve points after the first five rounds – lost one game each after overtime. The "Red Bulls" are still without defeat at home after three games, VSV has always scored in its two road games this year. At Salzburg, the Raffl-Schneider-Nissner line is currently on fire: with 10 goals, more than the half of Salzburg’s overall (19), but are also currently spearheading this scoring league-wide. Villach's top scorer is Alexander Rauchenwald (1G|6A). Layne Viveiros and Kevin Hancock will make their season debuts for the “Adler”, which have only won two of their last ten meetings with Salzburg after recovering from injury.
Fr, 29.09.2023, 7.15 pm: HK SZ Olimpija – BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg
Referees: NAGY, PIRAGIC, Hribar, Mantovani. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
Both HK SZ Olimpija and the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg – both were at the bottom of the table last year – have made a strong start to the season: The "Dragons" are in fifth place with nine points, the "Pioneers" are in ninth position with six points. The Vorarlberg side is struggling a bit with their penalty killing, where they are in last place with 70.6%. The Slovenians' penalty killing is much better, also because they are very disciplined with only two penalties against them per game: In only ten PK occasions, they only conceded one goal (#3 | 90.0%). In the past season, HK SZ Olimpija prevailed in three of four duels, with the Ländle-Cracks managing the only win away from home. Mike Pastujov will be in the lineup for the first time after overcoming an upper-body injury.
Fr, 29.09.2023, 8.30 pm: HCB Südtirol Alperia – HC Pustertal Wölfe
Referees: NIKOLIC K., ZRNIC, Rigoni, Zgonc. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
At the end of the 6th round it comes to the first South Tyrolean derby of this season. HCB Südtirol Alperia, which has only won once in six games, will take on HC Pustertal Wölfe, the win2day ICE Hockey League leader. The "Wolves" have not yet suffered a defeat, only giving up a point on the second gameday in Innsbruck. With 4.6 goals per game, the Valtonen team is particularly convincing offensively, and with 34.8% PP, the special teams have also settled in really well. Bolzano, which has already conceded 17 goals, has not yet been able to get going, but can rely on a flawless previous year's record of four wins and a goal difference of plus twelve. The Foxes have room for improvement in terms of scoring efficiency, with 3.94% they are second to last in the league.
