Seven teams from Italy, four from Austria, and one each from Slovenia and Croatia will compete in the 2026/27 season. The campaign gets underway with a rematch of last season's Final. In April, HC Gherdeina valgardena.it claimed its first-ever Alps Hockey League title by sweeping HC Meran/o Pircher 4-0 in a surprise championship series. A total of six games will be played on opening day, while returning club EC-KAC Future Team has a bye. The Klagenfurt side will make its season debut on Tuesday, September 22, with an away game against HC Migross Asiago.

An outdoor event is scheduled for the final weekend of January at the ski jumping hill in Bischofshofen, Austria. In addition to two win2day ICE Hockey League games, the Alps Hockey League schedule also features the derby between Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and EK Die Zeller Eisbären.

Top five teams qualify directly for the Playoffs
Following the 36-game regular season, the top five teams will qualify directly for the playoffs and compete in the Master Round to determine the best possible quarterfinal seeding. The remaining eight teams will battle in two Qualification Round groups for a place in the Pre-Playoffs, where the final three quarterfinal berths will be decided. Both the Master Round and the Qualification Round will be played in a home-and-away format.

Main game days: Thursday and Saturday
As in previous seasons, Thursday and Saturday will remain the league's primary game days. Due to logistical and infrastructural requirements, designated road trips will once again be part of the schedule, meaning that some games will also be played on other weekdays.
