Scott Kosmachuk returns to the ICE

The Vienna Capitals have signed forward Scott Kosmachuk. The 31-year-old Canadian is returning to the win2day ICE Hockey League, where he previously appeared in 145 games for EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV and EC Red Bull Salzburg, collecting 140 points (66 goals, 74 assists). Kosmachuk joins the Capitals from Slovak top-tier club Vlci Zilina and will be eligible to play only after the international break due to administrative procedures.

Born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, the forward spent his entire OHL career with the Guelph Storm, recording 286 points in 312 games between 2010 and 2014. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in 2012 and made his NHL debut in 2016. Kosmachuk also accumulated 323 AHL games, scoring 157 points.

The Canadian made his European debut in 2019/20 with the Augsburger Panther in the DEL before making an impact in the win2day ICE Hockey League starting in 2020/21. He tallied 109 points across two seasons with VSV and was named to the 2021/22 Team of the Season. Subsequent stops included the Liiga, the KHL and, from November 2024 onwards, EC Red Bull Salzburg, with whom he captured the league title.

Kosmachuk began the current season in Zilina, recording 14 points in 23 games. The newest member of the Vienna Capitals is expected to arrive in Vienna in the coming days.
