The second South Tyrolean derby of the current win2day ICE Hockey League season will take place in Brunico on Friday, with the clash between HC Pustertal Wölfe and HCB Südtirol Alperia was sold out after just a few hours – and is also highly charged given the narrow gap of just four points in the table.
At the same time, Marcel Rodman makes his debut as head coach of EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV and wants to reverse the trend with the "Adler", while the Moser Medical Graz99ers and EC Red Bull Salzburg both want to extend their winning streak on the road. HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie and Steinbach Black Wings Linz will be on a two-game road trip on Friday and Saturday.
All games will be available live on www.live.ice.hockey (PPV).

Fr, 01.12.2023, 7.15 pm: spusu Vienna Capitals – HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie
Referees: NAGY, RENCZ, Bärnthaler, Durmis. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie has the chance to put an end to its losing streak in road games on Friday at the spusu Vienna Capitals, as the Tyroleans have lost their last five consecutive away games. Most recently, in Klagenfurt, Head Coach Mitch O'Keefe's team let a two-goal lead slip away, losing 3-4 after shootout. The "Haie" are particularly toothless on the road, scoring just 15 goals in ten away games, fewer than any other team. Their powerplay weakness is particularly glaring away from home, with only two PP goals scored.
On the other hand, the Caps, which were off on Tuesday, are the weakest home team in the league, winning only three of their eleven games on home ice so far. Recently, however, there has been an upward trend and points in the last four home games in a row. The Viennese will have to do without Kilian Zündel next weekend, as the loan player has been recalled by HC Ambri-Piotta due to too many injured players. The "Haie" won the first duel of the season 6:3.
Fr, 01.12.2023, 7.15 pm: Hydro Fehérvár AV19 – EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV
Referees: FICHTNER, SOOS, Muzsik, Vaczi. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV reacted to its recent poor results on Thursday by releasing the previous head coach Rob Daum. His former assistant coach Marcel Rodman took over. On Friday, the fifth-placed "Adler" have to travel to Hydro Fehérvár AV19, which are third and have three points more in their account with the same number of games. The Hungarians have alternated wins and defeats in their last ten games, most recently losing 1-4 in Salzburg. The 2022 runners-up are currently severely depleted, with seven regular players missing from David Kiss’ squad.
Villach have won just one of their last six games and also lost their first game of the season against Fehérvár (1-2). The Carinthians have scored in Szekesfehervar in each of their last three games, winning two of them. Fehérvár's new signing Carter Robertson is not yet available.
Fr, 01.12.2023, 7.15 pm: HK SZ Olimpija – Moser Medical Graz99ers
Referees: OFNER, SEEWALD E., Gatol-Schafranek, Miklic. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
HK SZ Olimpija and the Moser Medical Graz99ers face off against two teams with strong form: The Slovenians have won their last two encounters (KAC and VSV), impressed against Villach with their comeback qualities and overturned a 1-4 deficit. The "Dragons", which announced the departure of Kristjan Cepon (Västerviks IK) on Thursday, have only celebrated three wins at home and that in their last four games.
Things are also going well for the Styrians, as the team at the bottom of the table has now gone three games without defeat, scoring four goals in each encounter. The 99ers have scored in each of their four games in Ljubljana, winning three times.
Fr, 01.12.2023, 7.30 pm: BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg – EC Red Bull Salzburg
Referees: PALKÖVI, SMETANA, Riecken, Sparer. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
The BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg welcome EC Red Bull Salzburg and the league leaders have recently found their way back on track: Three wins and a goal difference of 14:4 have been achieved. Salzburg's new signing Drake Rymsha is not yet ready for action. The "Red Bulls" have scored in all five duels with the Vorarlberg side so far, with the "Pioneers" only prevailing in a shootout on November 29, 2022.
Vorarlberg have lost some of their form in recent rounds: Stanley's team have gone three games without a win, scoring just four goal. However, Linz, Bolzano, Villach and Klagenfurt have all lost in Feldkirch.
Fr, 01.12.2023, 7.45 pm: Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey – Steinbach Black Wings Linz
Referees: GROZNIK, REZEP, Hribar, Rigoni. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
The Steinbach Black Wings Linz start their road trip to the south at Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey and arrive with a good dose of self-confidence. On Tuesday, the Upper Austrians shattered Bolzano's impressive winning streak, winning 2-0 at home against the hottest team in the league at the moment. The first season duel with Asiago went clearly to Linz, with four goals from Graham Knott paving the way for a 5-2 win. The Black Wings have won four of their previous five duels against each other, with the Italians only winning on February 3, 2023 (4-1). Asiago scored again on Tuesday in Graz (1-2 after overtime), but lost two games before that and conceded a total of 16 goals. In order to take another step forward in the fight for a spot in the pre-playoffs, they definitely need to improve their defense. Linz defenseman Martin Stajnoch, who had to come off the ice on Tuesday after a blocked shot, is available without restriction. Goalie coach Jürgen Penker will rotate in goal for the two games. Thomas Höneckl will lead his team on the ice against Asiago. Linz has lost its last three road games.
Fr, 01.12.2023, 7.45 pm: HC Pustertal Wölfe – HCB Südtirol Alperia
Referees: NIKOLIC M., ZRNIC, Wimmler, Zgonc. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
Friday sees the second South Tyrolean derby of the season between HC Pustertal Wölfe and HCB Südtirol Alperia. The two arch-rivals are separated by just four points in the table, with the Wolves, which won the first encounter in Bolzano 2-0, in sixth place and the Foxes in seventh. Both teams have impressed recently: Pustertal have won their last three games, while Bolzano suffered their first defeat after ten successes in a row with a 0-2 loss in Linz on Tuesday. Last season, Bolzano won both derbies in the Intercable Arena, which was sold out for this clash within a few hours. The Wolves have impressed with their special teams so far: The Pustertal's powerplay has a success rate of 25.4% (Bolzano is at 12.9%, slightly on the rise), while penalty killing is at 87.5% (the Foxes are third in this statistic with 84.3%) – both number one in the league. Bolzano has the entire squad at its disposal.
