Second win for the Sabres at the EWHL EURO Cup

The Sabres St. Pölten remain on course for success at the EWHL EURO Cup. After a 3-1 victory over TED Kocaeli Koleji Spor Kulübü on Friday, they followed up with a 5-2 win against Budapest Jegkorong Akademia on Saturday. Budapest Hokiklub also claimed a 3-2 victory over the Turkish side.

The Sabres made a strong start against Budapest Jegkorong Akademia, with Janka Hlinkova and Tamina Schall giving them a 2-0 lead in the opening period. Early in the second period, Ashley Taciuk extended the advantage to 3-0. Budapest pulled one back through Laura Kosztya before Katharina Killius restored the Sabres’ three-goal lead. Bailey Feeney then reduced the deficit to 4-2, but Romana Kosecka sealed the 5-2 victory in the final period. The Sabres also held a clear statistical advantage, outshooting their opponents 51-18.

In the other Group A game, Budapest Hokiklub edged TED Kocaeli Koleji Spor Kulübü 3-2. Both the Sabres and Hokiklub have collected the maximum number of points from their opening two games and will face each other in a head-to-head clash on Sunday.
