Standings in the "best-of-seven" series: 1:1

The series between VSV and Fehervar is tied after two games. Although Nico Brunner put Villach in the lead on Saturday in Hungary, in the end the efficient hosts celebrated a 6:3 victory. Thus, the team that initially fell behind also won the second game of the series. Even if it wasn't enough for a VSV victory in Hungary, talent Johannes Tschurnig at least had a personal sense of achievement. The young Villach forward, who recently celebrated his 18th birthday, crowned his strong performances with his first goal in the ICE team. The youngest Villach playoff scorer is Michael Grabner, who was just 16 years and 189 days old when he scored in the fourth final against the KAC on 11 April 2004. In general, the Carinthians are again relying on their strong offence. With 17 points, John Hughes leads the playoff scorer ranking ahead of his team-mate Anton Karlsson (13), followed in third place by Fehervar captain Janos Hari. Braeden Shaw is also in top form for the Hungarians in the postseason, the 29-year-old has seven goals after only six games.

Maybe Jamie Fraser and Alexander Rauchenwald, could return to the VSV lineup, it will be decided on match day after final training.

Standings in the "best-of-seven" series: 2:0

After 59 minutes, the Viennese were still leading 2:0 at home against Salzburg yesterday and were close to equalising the series. But in the final minute, the Red Bulls, without a goalkeeper and with six skater, promptly scored twice - the second goal came 8 seconds before the end of regulation time - forcing overtime and fixing the 3:2 victory 17 minutes later. Now the series returns to Salzburg and the regular season winners can get match pucks with a third victory. The Red Bulls also won the last four home games against Vienna, the last Caps win in the Eisarena Salzburg dates back to 12 January 2021. Not only in this series are both teams very keen on a compact defence. In only one of Salzburg's six postseason games more than five goals were scored so far. For the Caps games it's two of their nine matches (more than 5 goals).

While Salzburg is missing forward Florian Baltram, the Viennese - who again had nine players aged 24 or younger in their lineup yesterday - are hoping for the return of key players.
