“best-of-7” semifinal series: 0:1

  • With a 4:2 home win, the EC-KAC took a 1:0 lead in the "best-of-7" semifinal series against EC Red Bull Salzburg.
  • The special teams made the difference in favor of the "Rotjacken": They used two of five powerplay occasions to score a goal and survived five shorthanded situations without any damage.
  • In the previous seven playoff series against RBS, the KAC took a 1:0 lead three times - only one series, in 2009, was won by Klagenfurt in the end.
  • KAC is the most successful road team in the league, winning 18 of 26 games.
  • RBS won only one of the three regular season home games against KAC. Manuel Geier scored a power-play goal in each of the last two meetings with Salzburg.
  • RBS opened each of its last six playoff series with a loss, season-wide. The last time the Salzburg side won an opening game was in the 2018 semifinals against Linz.
  • RBS has won 23 of 45 postseason games against the KAC so far.
  • The two teams are playing their 146th game against each other. RBS won 78 of them.
  • In addition to the long-term injured David Fischer, Paul Postma and Dennis Sticha, who will not be available in any case, the EC-KAC is also likely to miss forward Steven Strong. Michael Kernberger will be on the team.
  • RBS forward Thomas Raffl has been suspended for two games after a check to the head and neck in semifinal #1. Click here for the details. Austin Ortega is back in the lineup after his two-game suspension.

  • The teams met on equal terms in game #1: for the fifth time in the seventh duel of the season, only one goal decided the game. Dennis Robertson scored the game-winner. A few seconds before the end Grant Besse only hit the bar for Vienna.
  • In each of the previous two playoff series, VIC won the first game: in 2017 Caps swept their way to the finals, in 2018 they suffered four straight losses after winning the opener.
  • HCB has won its last two games in VIC.
  • Of the last ten meetings at Erste Bank Arena, each team has celebrated five wins - only once was the game not decided in regulation.
