The Steel Wings Linz celebrated a sensational 2:1-OT away win at second-place HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice on Sunday evening. Canadian Francesco Arcuri scored the game winner in favor of SWL. Jesenice needs one more point in the last game of the regular season to secure the second place in the table. In the second game of the day, S.G. Cortina Hafro managed a 6:4 away win at Red Bull Hockey Juniors in a direct duel for the fifth place in the table. Due to the fifth AHL defeat in a row, the Young Bulls have no chance to pass the Italians in the standings and will finish the regular season in sixth place.

Francesco Arcuri shoots Steel Wings Linz to sensational win
The Steel Wings Linz managed a sensational win at HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice on Sunday evening. The bottom of the table won with 2:1 after overtime at the second-placed team in the table. Canadian Francesco Arcuri scored the game winner after two and a half minutes in overtime. The efforts of the last few days were clearly noticeable for Jesenice. For the Slovenians it was the fourth game within six days. They won the previous three games of the week. The guests from Linz, who recorded their third win of the season, took the lead in the 16th minute of the game with a shorthanded goal. 21-years-old Niklas Bretschneider scored his first goal for the Steel Wings. The equalizer for the hosts was scored in minute 32. After that, Jesenice was clearly dominating the game, 31:7 shots on goal in periods two and three speak for themselves. However, they did not score the deciding goasl. This was scored by the guests in Overtime. Francesco Arcuri scored his seventh goal in the 16 appearance for SWL after an assist of Curtis Douglas. Jesenice has not yet secured the second place in the standings due to the unexpected defeat. In the last game of the Regular Season on Thursday at the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan they need one more point to fix the second place. SWL will conclude its season at the SHC Fassa Falcons.

Cortina fixes fifth place
S.G. Cortina Hafro beat the Red Bull Hockey Juniors with 6:4 in the direct duel for fifth place and thus fixes fifth place in the Regular Season. The Young Bulls will finish the regular season in sixth place. The hosts got off to the better start in the game. Maximilian Rebernig scored in the seventh minute of the game to make it 1:0, but the visitors were able to turn the game around in just three minutes. In the meantime Cortina was already with 3:1 in front. However, RBJ managed to equalize the score at 3:3 before the end of the second period. In the final period, Cortina was able to step up the gear and decide the game in their favor in the end. While the Italians won their third game in a row, Salzburg suffered their fifth defeat in a row.
