In the current season, the decisive championship phase is just around the corner. Half of the games in the intermediate round have already been played. While the teams in sixth to eleventh place are still fighting for the last three play-off tickets, the top five are already qualified for the quarter-finals. They will duel for the pick and home right for the playoffs as well as the second starting spot in the Champions Hockey League.

The play-off pick will be made on 7th of March 2021 following the last matchday of the intermediate round. In the process, the top three teams will choose their opponent from places 5 to 8, starting with the winner of the pick round. After the intensive regular season a break of at least four days was set for all teams before the start of the quarter-finals. The playoffs of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League will thus start on Friday, 12th of March. The proven game dates on Friday, Sunday and Tuesday have been retained - only around Easter will matches also be played on other weekdays.

The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played in a "best of seven" format. A possible seventh final match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 25th of April. As in the season so far, however, the league reserves the possibility to react flexibly to pandemic-related restrictions.
