Release from 10.02.2025
The win2day ICE Hockey League returns from the international break on Tuesday - and it's back to business. A total of seven games are scheduled over the next three days. It starts on Tuesday with the rescheduled game of the 30th round, in which EC Red Bull Salzburg will face Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey away from home. Five more games follow on Wednesday, including the game between the spusu Vienna Capitals and EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV. In addition, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz and the Moser Medical Graz99ers will face off in a direct clash between two Top-6 teams. The ICE Hockey League will also be played on Thursday, when Hydro Fehérvár AV19 travels to HC TIWAG Innsbruck. In terms of playoff qualification, two more teams - Salzburg and Bolzano - can qualify for the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey - EC Red Bull Salzburg
Asiago and Salzburg will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, in the rescheduled game of the 30th round. The Italians have already won one game against the Red Bulls this season. With three wins from their last five games, the team in twelfth place in the table was in good form before the international break. Salzburg, currently second in the table, have also won three of their last five games.
spusu Vienna Capitals - EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV
There is a lot at stake both for Vienna and Villach: While the Capitals currently occupy the last pre-playoff spot in tenth place and are six points ahead of the eleventh-placed Pioneers Vorarlberg, VSV are only two points behind the sixth-placed Black Wings in seventh place. Vienna suffered two defeats in a row before the international break, while Villach were beaten 2:3/SO by the KAC in the derby. Before that, however, the “Eagles” celebrated four wins in a row. The Carinthians have won all three duels against the Capitals so far this season.
EC-KAC - Pioneers Vorarlberg
League leader EC-KAC welcome Pioneers Vorarlberg, who are in eleventh place in the table. The KAC are the only team to have already qualified for the playoffs and are five points ahead of their closest rivals Salzburg and Bolzano. The Pioneers, on the other hand, are six points behind the important tenth place. Before the international break, the Pioneers suffered a bitter 1:3 defeat against Ljubljana, but before that they won 4:1 at Pustertal. Klagenfurt are currently in top form and have an active winning streak of four games. In the last two games, they won in the shootout against Villach and Graz. So far this season, the KAC had no problems against the Pioneers, winning all three encounters so far (7:1, 2:0, 5:2).
Steinbach Black Wings Linz - Moser Medical Graz99ers
Both Linz and Graz can take a big step towards the top six with a win on Wednesday. The 99ers are currently fifth in the table, two points ahead of the sixth-placed Black Wings, who in turn have a two-point lead over seventh-placed Villach. Linz have also played one game less than Graz and Villach. The Upper Austrians have been in very good form recently and celebrated two clear victories against Pustertal (7:2) and Asiago (7:3). However, Graz are also on the up - with four wins from their last five games and a total of seven victories from their last ten games. The Styrians have won twice in the three duels against the Black Wings so far this season.
HCB Südtirol Alperia - Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey
Third-placed Bolzano can clinch a play-off spot against Asiago in “Il Grande Classico” on Wednesday. To do so, the South Tyroleans need one point more than Villach. Bolzano leads 2:1 against the team from Veneto in the direct season comparison. It will be the second game in 24 hours for the visitors, as Asiago will host defending champions Salzburg on Tuesday. Bolzano was beaten 2:6 by the Red Bulls before the international break and has only won two of its last six games.
HC Pustertal - EC Red Bull Salzburg
Second-placed Salzburg are also on the brink of a play-off spot. If the Red Bulls, who are already in action on Tuesday, pick up at least four points from both games, they will be qualified for the quarter-finals. Under certain circumstances, one point could even be enough - provided they pick up at least one more point than Villach on Wednesday. The Red Bulls' opponents are Pustertal. The South Tyroleans are currently ninth in the table and on course for the pre-playoffs, nine points ahead of the eleventh-placed Pioneers. The “Wolves” have had the upper hand in the last two duels with Salzburg (6:3, 6:5/SO). In the first meeting of the season, however, RBS were victorious (7:3).
HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Hydro Fehérvár AV19
The win2day ICE Hockey League will also be played on Thursday. In the sixth game of the 49th round, Innsbruck welcomes Fehérvár at home. While the Tyroleans are bottom of the table, the Hungarians are fourth and on course for a top-six finish, five points ahead of seventh-placed VSV and just one point behind second place. However, Fehérvár's current form is anything but convincing - the team has recently conceded three defeats in a row. They also lost 1:3 to Ferencváros Budapest in the Hungarian Cup final last week, but have had no problems against Innsbruck this season, winning all of their previous encounters (3:0, 7:1, 4:0).
