“best-of-seven” quarter final series: 3:3
EC GRAND Immo VSV and HK SZ Olimpija duel each other for a place in the semifinals of the win2day ICE Hockey League. After Ljubljana opened the quarter-final series with a road win, Villach picked up three consecutive victories before the "Dragons" fought back to force a showdown with two wins in a row. While the first five games in this series were high-scoring with an average of 10.2 goals, only five goals were scored in the sixth encounter. Despite leading 2:0 after the first period, the ICE newcomers scored the OT game winner. For EC GRAND Immo VSV it is already the sixth decisive game since the league was founded in the summer of 2000, the third game sesven. Twice the "Adler" prevailed in a showdown, they were the only two deciding games that VSV played on their own ice. In 2006 in the semifinals against Innsbruck (6:4) and prior that in 2003 in the "best-of-5" quarterfinals against Vienna (2:0). Except for the long-term injured Chris Collins and Yannic Pilloni, the VSV has the entire squad available.

“best-of-seven” quarter final series: 3:3
EC-KAC also forced a decisive game against the spusu Vienna Capitals for advancement to the semifinals, with the "best-of-seven" quarterfinal series developing identically to the one between Villach and Ljubljana: Klagenfurt first won away, then had to admit defeat three times and brought itself back into the series with an overtime win in Vienna and a comeback victory at home. This was the first time in their club history that the "Rotjacken" turned a 1:3 deficit into a 3:3. Klagenfurt faces game seven for the first time since 2016 - for the eighth time they are in a decisive game ("best-of-five" and "best-of-seven"). Three times the reigning champion won a showdown. For the spusu Vienna Capitals, it is the ninth decisive game. They won the last one against Salzburg in 2019. In total, they advanced three times. EC-KAC will be missing Jakob Holzer, Steven Strong, Rok Ticar and Johannes Bischofberger for this encounter. In addition to head coach Dave Barr, top scorer Nicolai Meyer and goalie David Kickert - all three were already missing from the Caps yesterday in Game 6 due to a positive Corona test - the spusu Vienna Capitals will have to do without Charlie Dodero, who remains suspended, and the injured Matt Neal and Joel Lowry.
