Shutouts in Tuesday’s games

On Tuesday both Alps Hockey League games were decided by the home teams, each having a 4:0-shutout. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors dominated HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice and got the third season win over the Slovenian side, while the EC “Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel celebrated its first home win against the VEU Feldkirch ever in Alps Hockey League history.

Tue, 15.01.2019: Red Bull Hockey Juniors vs. HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice 4:0 (1:0, 1:0, 2:0)

Only three days after the huge shutout-win at Feldkirch, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors added another great success to their winning-streak with a clear 4:0 victory against HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. While Salzburg got the fourth consecutive win and the sixth shutout this season, the Slovenian side for the second time did not score. After a slightly start of both teams, Salzburg captured the lead out of its first powerplay occasion with Oliver Nordberg making his 40th scoring point this season. Salzburg took full control in the middle frame with Jesper Kokkila giving the hosts a two-goal lead around halfway of the game, after Jesenice hit the post before. The Austrian side dominated in the third too with Caspar Evertsson adding another goal luckily. Soon later he used a double powerplay occasion for his second goal of the night after a deflection of a Nordberg-Shot and gave the fifth-ranked Red Bulls a comfortable 4:0-lead about eleven minutes to go. Salzburg pushed hard till the end, created further chances but Ziga Kogovsek, who replaced Clarke Saunders after the 0:4, kept his sheet clean and protected his team from a superior defeat.

Tue, 15.01.2019: EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel vs. VEU Feldkirch 4:0 (1:0, 2:0, 1:0)

The EC “Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel got its third consecutive home-win after beating the VEU Feldkirch for the second time this Alps Hockey League season. The Tyrolean made their twelfth spot in standings more comfortable. Feldkirch got the fourth consecutive defeat and remains sixth. The hosts had some chances early in the game but could not score at all. They did not achieve one goal out of four power plays in the first twelve minutes. While it seemed the hosts having everything under control, they conceded their first goal against with a man advantage. Peter Lenes’s shorthander gave the eagles the 1:0-lead after thirteen minutes. The hosts gained self-confidence out of the lead and gave better-ranked Feldkirch a tough fight. KEC netminder Tyler Rimmer had a great night and kept the eagles from the equalizer. After five minutes in the second, the hosts increased their lead thanks to Henrik Hochfilzer. Peter Lenes found the back of the net not even three minutes later and got his colors on winning ways. Patrick Bolterle made it 4:0-lead around halfway of the last and rounded off the scoring for the win.
