Release from 10.11.2025
In the Alps Hockey League, games will be played every day this week except Monday and Sunday. Six matchups are scheduled between Tuesday and Friday. The highlight comes on Wednesday, when the EC Bregenzerwald, unbeaten in six consecutive games, faces defending champion EK Die Zeller Eisbären. The HC Migross Asiago will be the only team in action twice in the next days. In addition, S.G. Cortina will represent the Alps Hockey League in the Continental Cup in Angers, France, from Friday to Sunday, fighting for a spot in the final tournament.
Tuesday: Asiago opens the Week
On Tuesday, Asiago faces HC Gherdeina valgardena.it in the only game of the day. It’s their second meeting of the season — Asiago narrowly won the first encounter 3–2 in a shootout. The two sides also met in preseason, where Gherdeina claimed a 2–1 win. Current form favors seventh-place Asiago, which has won three of its last five games, while ninth-place Gherdeina has only one win in its last six. On the road, Gherdeina has managed just one victory so far this season, while Asiago has taken three wins from six home games.
Wednesday: Top game – Bregenzerwald hosts Zell am See
EC Bregenzerwald is currently the hottest team in the Alps Hockey League, riding a six-game winning streak. On Sunday, the Vorarlberg side edged out Cortina 3–2 in a shootout, climbing to fourth place in the standings — just ahead of defending champion EK Die Zeller Eisbären, who sit one point back. The Polar Bears bounced back with a 4–2 win in Sterzing on Sunday after two straight losses. In their first meeting this season, Zell am See suffered a 1–3 home defeat against Bregenzerwald — their first loss to the team since November 29, 2023, after nine consecutive wins.
Thursday: Kitzbühel faces struggling Vipiteno
Three games are scheduled for Thursday, including a matchup between Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel (3rd place) and the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan (12th). Kitzbühel has won five of its last six games, while Vipiteno is winless in its last six. The South Tyroleans fell to Bregenzerwald (1–3) and Zell am See (2–4) last week, while Kitzbühel earned a narrow 3–2 victory in Gherdeina. The Eagles remain unbeaten at home this season, whereas Vipiteno has picked up two wins in seven away games. This will be their first meeting of the season — last year, the two sides faced off in the quarterfinals, where the Broncos swept the series 4–0.
Sisak aiming to bounce back against bottom team
Sisak suffered two defeats last weekend, missing the chance to take over first place. With 32 points, the Croatian side sits level with the Red Bull Hockey Juniors but trails due to an inferior goal difference. Sisak will look to reclaim the top spot on Thursday at home against Hockey Unterland Cavaliers, who sit bottom of the table with just seven points and only two wins in 13 games. In their first encounter, Sisak dominated with a 5–0 road victory.
Asiago hosts Ritten
In Thursday’s third game, HC Migross Asiago hosts the Rittner Buam SkyAlps. For Asiago, it will be the second game in three days, while Ritten returns to action for the first time since November 1 (a 3–5 home loss to Bregenzerwald). That was one of four straight defeats for the South Tyroleans, who have slipped to sixth in the standings. In their first meeting this season, Ritten won convincingly 5–1 at home. They also beat Asiago 4–3 in a preseason matchup.
Friday: Jesenice hosts Merano
The only Friday game sees HDD Jesenice take on HC Meran/o Pircher. While Jesenice had a bye week, Merano celebrated an impressive 4–0 home win over Sisak, following a 5–4 shootout victory in Zell am See. Merano currently ranks 10th, with Jesenice two points behind in 11th place. Last year’s finalist lost 1–4 in its most recent outing in Cortina — one of three defeats in its last five games. In their first meeting this season, Jesenice fell 1–3 on the road in Merano.
Cortina competing in the Continental Cup
From Friday to Sunday, S.G. Cortina will represent the Alps Hockey League in the second Round of the Continental Cup, hosted in Angers, France. The Italian side will face Angers Ducs (FRA), HK Mogo (LAT), and ACS Gyergyoi HK (ROU). Cortina will play each opponent once, and a top-two finish in the group would secure a spot in the Final Tournament, set to take place from January 14 to 17 in Nottingham (GBR).
