Slovenia got off to a good start in the deciding match against France just 22 hours after their point against Austria. The Slovenians took the lead in the tenth minute through Žan Jezovšek with a two man advantage, with Olimpija players Bine Mašič and Rok Kapel providing the assist. Jan Drozg first missed a penalty, but shortly afterwards Olimpija forward Nik Simšič made it 2:0. The French team got stronger as the game progressed, but were repeatedly thwarted by goalkeeper Lukáš Horák. France only reduced the deficit two minutes before the end of regulation time. But Matic Török fixed the Slovenian victory with an empty netter.
