South Tyrol claim Shootout win at the Highlanders

In the European Women’s Hockey League, the KSV Highlanders faced the EVB Eagles South Tyrol on Tuesday. The visitors from Bolzano narrowly prevailed 5–4 in a shootout, moving up to second place in the standings, three points behind leaders Sabres St. Pölten — with just one regular-season game remaining.

The Highlanders got off to the better start, taking a power-play lead in the second minute. However, South Tyrol turned the game around by the 11th minute and extended their lead to 4–1 by the 24th minute, with Giorgia Todesco already scoring twice. The Highlanders refused to give up and pulled back to 3–4 by the 52nd minute. With only 49 seconds remaining, they even managed to tie the game. In the shootout, South Tyrol ultimately prevailed to secure the road victory. The Highlanders remain in sixth place in the table.
