South Tyrol with clear home win against St. Pölten | Bratislava consolidates top spot in the table

In the European Women's Hockey League, the EVB Eagles South Tyrol celebrated a clear 5:2 home win against the Sabres St. Pölten on Saturday. As a result, the team from Bolzano climbed to third place in the table and is now just one point behind the second-placed Sabres. Meanwhile, leaders HK PSRZ Bratislava celebrated a narrow 6:5 home win against Lakers Kärnten, meaning the Slovakians now have an eight-point lead over St. Pölten. Budapest Jégkorong Akadémia also won 2:1/OT at the DEC Salzburg Eagles.

In the top game of the day, the EVB Eagles South Tyrol celebrated a clear 5:2 home win against the Sabres St. Pölten, which moved the team from Bolzano up to third place in the table and left them just one point behind the Sabres. South Tyrol were already 4:0 ahead after 34 minutes. Eleonora Bonafini scored her second brace of the season. The visitors from St. Pölten only got into the game in the final 15 minutes and were able to reduce the deficit to 2:4. The home side, who will also be in action against Budapest Jégkorong Akadémia tomorrow (Sunday), made the final score 5:2 with 15 seconds remaining.

League leaders HK PSRZ Bratislava beat the Lakers Kärnten 6:5 and now have an eight-point lead over the Sabres St. Pölten. In a high-scoring game, the Slovakians scored the game-winner just seven and a half minutes before the end of the game. In the meantime, Bratislava was already leading 2:0, 4:1 and 5:4 against the ninth-placed team in the table. Livia Kubekova scored twice for the leaders, while Isabelle Hardy and Alina Hinum scored a brace for the Carinthians.

In the third game of the day, Budapest Jégkorong Akadémia celebrated a 2:1/OT away win at DEC Salzburg Eagles. In a game with few goals, it took until the 55th minute for the visitors to take the lead. It remained a tight 1:0 for the seventh-placed team in the table until nine seconds before the end of regulation time, when Salzburg, who are tenth in the table, managed to equalize. In overtime, only seven seconds were played before Budapest scored through Rebecca Brown to decide the game.
