Starkbaum and Stéen stay at Vienna

The spusu Vienna Capitals have extended the contract with Austrian national team goalie Bernhard Starkbaum until the end of the upcoming win2day ICE Hockey League season. Further, Stefan Stéen, most recently part of the Heilbronner Falken in DEL2, also returns to the semifinalist.

Bernhard Starkbaum, who is part of the current lineup of the Austrian national team for the World Championship, enters his fifth consecutive season with the spusu Vienna Capitals, as the 36-year-old had returned to his hometown in December 2018. In the past campaign, Starkbaum played 32 games and impressed with a save percentage of 92.1%, posting a shutout seven times.

"I like it a lot in Vienna. I grew up in this city and it was always an open secret that I also want to finish my career here one day. Even though I'm at an advanced age, I still feel fit enough to help the team. I'm looking forward to the coming season and hope that we can build on what we established here last season," said Starkbaum.
Also continuing at spusu Vienna Capitals is Stefan Stéen as the 29-year-old Swede played primarily for Vienna farm team Vienna Capitals Silver last season. In addition, Stéen also convinced in his two appearances with the professionals. In his debut in the win2day ICE Hockey League, he recorded a shutout.
