Steel Wings Linz defeat KAC Future Team twice

From Friday to Sunday, a total of eight test matches with Alps Hockey League participation took place. The Steel Wings Linz AG and the EC-KAC Future Team met twice. In both duels the Upper Austrians kept the upper hand. In the Hansjörg Brunner Memorial, host HC Meran/o Pircher lost in both games. The SHC Fassa Falcons was active on the transfer market. The Italians signed the Swedish forward Sebastian Selin.

In the first test match between the Steel Wings Linz AG and EC-KAC Future Team, the Steel Wings kept the upper hand with 3:1. The following day, the Upper Austrians prevailed 3:2. While these were the first test matches of the season for the Future Team, the Steel Wings already celebrated victories two and three. In the opener they celebrated a 3:2 win against AHL newcomer HK RST Pellet Celje.

The Slovenians lost in their second test match as well. They were defeated by league rival EK Die Zeller Eisbären with 2:4. The EC Bregenzerwald suffered an opening defeat, losing to Swiss third-league team EHC Arosa with 1:3. The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel also kicked off their preseason. In the direct duel, the Eagles from Kitzbühel won clearly with 6:2. New signing Rafael Rotter, who moved to Tyrol from the Vienna Capitals in the win2day ICE Hockey League, scored to make it 5:1 in the meantime.

Two defeats for Merano at the Hansjörg Brunner Memorial
Also this year the HC Meran/o Pircher invited to the Hansjörg Brunner Memorial, which is dedicated to the historical Merano president Hansjörg Brunner. However, the hosts could not win either of their two games. Against league rival Rittner Buam SkyAlps they lost with 3:4. In addition, the Eagles lost to the HCB Südtirol Alperia from the win2day ICE Hockey League with 0:3. Ritten lost the second game against the EHC Winterthur from the Swiss League with 1:5.

Lustenau starts the preseason
Also in the coming days numerous teams of the Alps Hockey League are in preseason action. Among others, the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it, who lost the first two games against Cortina, will meet the SHC Fassa Falcons in the Trofeo Ladino. The Hockey Unterland Cavaliers will have to deal with the HCB Südtirol Alperia. And with the EHC Lustenau, the 16th and last Alps Hockey League team also starts the preseason. The team from Vorarlberg will meet the EHC Chur on Tuesday.

Fassa signs Swedish forward
On the transfer market, the SHC Fassa Falcons was active in the past few days and announced the signing of Swede Sebastian Selin. The 31-year-old was last active with Sparta Sarpsborg in Norway (50 games - 38 points). Before that, the forward played consistently in his home country.
